How do you fall in love with a cat you have never met? Her family shows you who she is, how special and loved she is, and she shows you that we aren't that different after all. Like any new person you meet, when you laugh with her, stand behind what she is 'saying', see how she loves her family even when frustrated by them (Yes, you Guppy), you just have to love the purrsonality that emerges. You find yourself celebrating her accomplishments, grieving her losses, loving her loves and hating her hates. You watch her doing things you never imagined a cat could do and enjoy. And then the reality that our feline friends rarely stay as long as we need them to stabs you in the heart. If love alone could keep you alive and healthy Billy, you would live forever. Thank you for helping me to love and understand my cats so much more deeply. You are a very special presence in the world, and you can never be forgotten. I will never ever forget 'meeting' you. It’s part of the absolute worst part of having animals. Them getting sick and eventually passing on. I believe they can and do visit us, as well as waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. My Stella passed on 6 years ago and has visited me quite a few times since. They make it so darn easy to fall in love with them. I’m praying for Billi and for you Kendra. Give her some pets for me.

I think sun craving in cats' kidney disease is related to vitamin D, PTH and hormone making. There are some documents on secondary hyperparathyroidism in cats' CKD treated with calcitrol (special form of vitamin D).

My feisty little calico, Blue, is in palliative care as well. She turned 21 on the last day of March and has been dealing with a carcinoma for the last 18 months or so. She still eats pretty good but has stopped grooming herself. i don't mind doing it for her, but i wish she still wanted to. Our sweet old girls. ~ 🩵☘️🥀

I love her and the fact that she is brilliant. It's so hard to see them age and pass away. My previous cat lived to be 19 1/2 years old and when it was time I was compassionate and had her put to sleep. So glad that you and Billi are spending this time together. Palliative care time with your cat is so important, I was blessed with 76 days of additional time with my 14 yr old girl. I only filmed some of that time for my channel, just to let people know that palliative care for a cat was possible. My cat was happy she finally got to eat decent noms for the first time in 13 yrs and she was pretty nonchalant about what was happening with the decline of her health. She would tell me when she needed additional personal help and pain medication. It was only the last day that she really wasn't herself and she passed away laying on her mama's chest getting head kisses. One year has just passed and I still cry. She was such a big part of my life being a therapy cat. When I do get another cat I will be using the communication techniques you developed with Billie. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

It's hard to watch them enter their senior time but you are doing so well by Billi. When my own old lady got less particular about grooming herself I took to gently wiping her down with a damp cloth a couple of times a day, trying to mimic the grooming action. I'd finish up with a comb to remove any loose hair. She seemed to enjoy it and it freshened her up a bit so imo was a win/win.
