My kitty Cicely is sitting right in front of the computer screen watching your video with me. Boy does she love Dave's Nemo flying, your flag flapping and your feet pedaling when we can see them. Good thing I clip the sharpies on her claws or my screen would be perforated haha. One of my great friends who I have known since high school lives in Palm Springs. It is a beautiful place.

Here in Seattle area, I am still waiting until afternoon for the warmest part of the day to ride. In places where there are sidewalks I think they are great for riding since people rarely walk on them, and I am leery of sharing the road with cars if I'm not forced to.

@@TravelsByTrike I just got back from a short ride. My first one where the chain came off the front and back, so I have some adjusting to do with the derailleurs. I have been waiting until afternoon so it gets to the mid 50’s, or 60’s which is my ideal temperature range where you could go jacket or not. I zipped off the sleeves and put them in my pocket. I just got a canopy that I will graft onto the seat for the hot sunny season for shade and maybe visibility on streets. I don’t know if I need it, but I think it would be easier to ride in the hot part of the day if the sun isn’t right on my head. It’s part of the reason I always pick light colored helmets when I will be riding outside of the cool and cloudy home base.

. . . . . . but it's a dry heat . . . . . having lived in Palm Desert 89-95 - some of your earlier rides plus this one - nice being able to 'slowly' go through familiar areas once again. But never went into the 'wash' - not even sure back then you could (or would have wanted to)?

Another great video Sylvia. Exciting terrain, I was able to sync google maps to the route to get an expanded view of the area. Here in southern Minnesota we are experiences temps in the 90s, which is quite a jump from just a few days when highs were in the high 40s and is well above 70s we usually experience in early May. The LA basin area always fascinates me. I've visited quite a few times. An endless amount of suburbia that just goes on and on in all directions. Can you provide some info on the visor attached to your helmet? I have a red da' brim that I wear to keep the sun off, but in windy weather it has a tendency to fly off my helmet. Yours looks like a extension of your helmet. Thanks for the ride and video.
@TravelsByTrike2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks, John! The visor is made by someone at Tater TOT. She gives them away but you have to come. She even installs it on your helmet.

What is source of your helmet visor? Never mind, just saw your helmet video. Your video reminds me of visits to my brother who lived in a series of those golf course residential areas. Never could take my bike but did a lot of driving around and did get out to some of the slot canyons to the east of Indio and down to the Salton sea and of course Joshua Tree NP. Heat perception is different when humidity is 20%.
@TravelsByTrike2 жыл бұрын
I get asked about the helmet visor a lot. I suspect the outline is available online somewhere. Years ago, I made one from an outline and the plastic piece that is on the bottom of a cloth grocery store bag. Palm Springs area is great for cycling but the development idea is quite absurd considering the lack of water and brutal summer temps.
