The kid at the market was trying hard to get you to buy something. Ha! He was good at what he does. I just got back from Antigua 2 weeks ago and I can relate to the feeling of being bombarded with this kind of a sales pitch at every stand you come to. They really wear you down in the end. 😉 I must say though, it was very nice of you to hang in there with him because it gives folks a good idea of what it's like at these markets as well as how nice these vendors turn out to be beyond their sales pitch, as they are willing to come down on the initial price quite a bit and you really end up getting quite a deal in most instances. That's why I didn't really mind them. Besides that, they quality of the handmade products they sell is consistently fairly high. The only market where we were not aggressively approached is the Nim P'ot Market, a lovely place where you can shop undisturbed, if that's your preferred shopping experience, and the quality and variety of their merchandise is top notch!

Thanks for the tip! I've never been to Nim Po't but will check it out. Yeah I just love hanging around markets in general, not necessarily buying

I agree. This is one of the most useful/informative videos on Antigua I have run across. The Mercado Central bit was awesome, especially the slow pace at which he navigated through it as he stopped to let the viewer get a feel for the vibe of the place at every stop.

Yes, you can go to Quirigua... I saw tour buses there but we did it the hard way... Copan is 8 hours east of course. Ive been to Antigua 3 times but not for Easter (but for Christmas). Ive been in that never ending market, thanks for bringing back good memories. Yes, Christ entered Jesusalem and people accepted him as King aka THE KING - God. He rode a donkey which symbolizes peace. Of course the same people venerating Christ on Palm Sunday mourned or turned their back on him by the end of the week - his crucifixtion on Friday. Then HIS raising from dead on easter. The people carrying all that weight of the procession boxes know this and are shouldering some of the weight for Christ.
