I am working on Kings Indian. Went on a good run but then a strong slide with bishops/Queen making it behind the H file. Going to hit up some books/videos, and just more experience.

Perhaps, the best general view of any opening system I have seen to date. I adore the transpositional possibilities into the Closed Sicilian even using a delayed Be3, Qd2 battery to take out the black, dark-squared Bishop. I will be visiting this vídeo on a daily basis. Thanks a lot for this posto.

Great lesson, also excellent courses on chessable. Quality, support, everything! Btw. pronouncing PIRC defence - it's not "P:rk" it's more like "Pirtz" like Ritz hotel :) It is surname. Vasja Pirc slovenian chess player

Hi...thanks for pointing out at the beginning, where not to use the King's Indian Attack when Black goes with E5 D5 NF6. If I may ask...when using the KIA, does this give more control to Black in the middle when playing against those 3 openings (E5, D5, NF6)? Thanks in advance.

Bryan, thanks for this. I have some of your Chessable courses (as tewald), and THOROUGHL;Y enjoyed the May 4th masterclass. Is there any chance for a more complete KIA opening repertoire from you? I play the Scotch against e4, but am looking for the KIA against most other common defenses, as you mention here. I have lots of videos and books on it, but instruction coming from you would be much appreciated. Thanks, again.

I would jump on the request and get something put together on my Patreon asap if I had time. It may be next year before I can tackle any new projects (too many in progress right now). Be on the lookout, I will put it on my list.

Thanks, very beautifully explained.The other book that I am current reading is KIA by Ken Smith and Hall and this video supplements that book very well.The voice over sounds different though from that on Chessable course(must be the KZbin or the recording equipment has changed).

Combination of multiple things, and I am a good bit older now from when this was recorded. It was uploaded six years ago but recorded nearly ten years ago.

If playing for the KIA for white and e4 is met with e5 what is white's best approach, is the Rey lopes a good option

Structurally the Glek variation of the 4-Knights would be the closest to the KIA.

Question-At 1:37 is it possible/advisable to move the pawn to h3 in lieu of h4? In general, it would add a prophylactic element in guarding Nf3(protecting the g4 light square) while allowing his cohort to adventure up the board at a later time. PS-Is h3 a good move, an imprecise move or a bad move?
@bryantillis
@bryantillis 3 жыл бұрын
White is looking in many variations to play h5 and then h6 to soften the structure. We need to out the attack in KIA and thrust the h-pawn forward.

@@bryantillis Thanks a lot. All of modern chess revolves around attack, even the engines are biased in this way. I see things from the Nimzowitsch/Petrosian perspective. I do see the idea from your viewpoint. I appreciate the added commentary.

Thx for the great video. I'm studying it and at 0:33 you refer to black's 1st move of Pawn to G3 as The Rovich. I'm having no luck googling The Rovich. Is there another name or what?
