Absolutely impressed by the staying positive section. FPL hasn’t really been bothering me, but all of that advice is so useful for anything else in life, so I’m glad I watched its entirety. And the fact that section was given the most time is great, more people would appreciate it more than they realise.

Good advice on the mental health issue, thanks for doing it. One element that maybe hard to process when FPL just seems to go against one maybe the competitiveness of mini leagues which may put one under the stress of looking foolish, getting a lot of flak, feeling inadequate among ones' peers, etc.

All you can do is keep grinding and optimizing the best you can and hopefully be the one making your friends sweat with your performances. That’s how I’m dealing with it, I’m up for a challenge of digging myself out of a massive hole that bad luck and poor decision making earlier put me in. 750k rank rise GW21 for me, if I string together a few fat rank rises, I’m in business. Have fun and continue to hunt that’s all we can do at the end of the day

I love the mental health section. Thank you 🙏 It’s so relevant to why we get so involved with FPL. It’s so hard to not let it effect you when you dedicate so much time to it. You’d think it would become easier the longer you’ve been playing but I can honestly say it gets worse 😂. My 73 year old dad has been playing for 19 seasons like me… he generally comes last every season, takes risks and laughs at himself. All your tips are really good - tip 7 is definitely the hardest… but so important 🙏.

there are a lot of content creators, and - yes - i watch a bunch of them, but i don't get from them the inspiration that i get from you, thank you. i am so glad that you don't 'just' talk about the numbers or the templates, but also address how to 1) have fun with FPL and 2) stay emotionally healthy doing so. you keep this grounded and fun, much needed in this endeavour... again, thank you.

I really enjoyd your insights about mental healt. Like you said there’s been a positive shift from not talking about anything around it to the point where everyone is suddenly more open about their feelings and wellbeing. That being said, you seem like a guy who’d be a great motivator for anyone feeling depressed so it’s kind of sad that being a content creator here in KZbin seems to be more profitable (and maybe less stressfull if you’re like me who likes to bring work to home after 5PM) for you than being a fulltime psychology professional. Not that I’d know anything about what else you do besides these awesome FPL videos but I assume these take alot of your time. All the best and keep this content flowing mate!

Ross, I loved the section on mental health issues, it's such an important topic to highlight! So many of us use FPL as an escape from our everyday problems...and it's a shame when the game we love starts to impact the things that are really important in our lives: family & friends. Keep raising the awareness 👊🏻❤

Hey Ross, great piece on the mental health. I ditched FPL 7 years ago because of the worsening negative effects of a bad GW. Many of the mechanisms you spoke about have been working great for me on this first season back. Especially not getting worked up by thing out of our control. A deep squad is great to cover injuries/tough GW's but man does it make benching difficult. GW22 Start XI - Sels, Aina, Robinson, TAA, Gabriel, Salah, Palmer, Gordon, Raul, Isak, Wood. Bench: Henderson, Hall, Mbeumo, Sarr. 1.8m ITB - Plan to roll this week.

As a psychology student myself, I loved the last part of the video so much! Never I would thought I see this on this channel but I loved how you spent some extra time to help people out here. Maybe I can give another tip that I do myself. When I see things did not go as planned (almost every gw since fpl is really unpredictable lol) I think about beginning of the week where I built my squad on pretty much rational choices and I say yeah it made sense back then so I did the best I could. It gives me relief for some instance and then I check other friends of mine or other creators squads and I see also for them things could be better. Knowing you are not alone is helpful too.

Great stream my friend, and amazing part about the mental health! In a VERY worried way I feel FPL mirrors my other parts of life, multiple seasons now where work / personal life on top so does FPL, and when everything going against so does FPL! Maybe it’s murphys low, desperation leading to bad calls in FPL or just in my head, but this season the same, the last 2 months have been tough, so did damn FPL, from 38K to 600k in very few weeks! 😭😂🤦🏽♂️ New round, new possibilities tho, good luck ya all! Hehehe

Psychology section was excellent ... concise & relevant advice in 7 easy to understand points. We should always remember that FPL is a game to be enjoyed ⚽🌟😊 For me the best thing about FPL is it expands your interest to all teams. Instead of just supporting your favourite team (Liverpool for me), you become interested in players from all teams - players you have in your FPL team, and teams you target to score points against. You become a Premier League fan, not just a one eyed, one team supporter.

Imo for mental health in fpl, I get excited with setting up the team per gameweek. Often times poor experiences in fpl are because I have an expected outcome. So now I just put my team together out of excitement, without any expectations. Last gameweek is a good example. I transferred foden out for bruno and foden scored a brace. Leaving me with a red arrow. Then the united game happened, and it just so happens I had Amad who scored a hattrick which propelled me to a green arrow 😅 Moments like that are special and exciting. I'm certain if I had a certain outcome my experience would have been downplayed. Just go I to fpl without expectations but follow your excitement when it comes to building your team. And watch the universe unfold. 😅

1. If you go by the data, Joao Pedro looks bad. 2. If you go by the eye test, Joao Pedro looks bad. Therefore, start Joao Pedro over the guy that both just scored a hat trick and also looks good on the eye test, and also is playing at home.

I am wondering if the opponent xGC rank number is based on home and away fixtures combined, and if it’s possible to could be filtered to the number relevant for that specific fixture instead. For example maybe wolves is 12th with numbers combined; strong at home but abysmal away or vice versa. That would also be relevant when choosing a captain where Palmer’s opponent is at H and Salah’s is at A. 😄

Amad scored against Brighton last time they met, and they seem to have a habit of conceding from the right hand side. For that reason I’m playing Amad over Pedro, but either could be good. Pedro just hasn’t had the best form despite returning in 2 of the last 3, but he did knick a last minute winner against United in August. It’s a toss-up, I could see both blanking or even both returning this week.
