I'm just beginning to explore painting with acrylics - I've been painting with watercolors for over 30 years - I played around with them yesterday, and was shocked at how fast the paints dried. I just pulled up your video, having no idea what a 'wet palette' actually meant. THANK YOU!!

Nice home-made solution! Also, Masterson's Sta-Wet Palette 12"x16" can keep acrylic paints fresh for days, or even weeks. Comes inside a plastic box with air-tight lid....very handy for transporting. Includes a thin sponge at the bottom of the box, and nice palette paper. Sold at most art stores, and online.

I just use a plastic cakecontainer (dont know the exact word in english). You can buy them at a household store to save you cakes. You can buy them round or rectangle. They have a lid and small airholes. I put layers very wet kitchentowel , than a bakingsheet. Thats all... My paints stay fresh for weeks without molding or getting that thin film you dont want.

Great video pam. I like the cafeteria tray and tracing paper ideas as it provides for a large stay-wet palette. Larger than what others are showing us to make. I’m a novice just learning and taking my first acrylics class, but having a stay-wet palette is required for this course. Stay well and thanks for great tips.

This is a very valuable tip Pam & Ive been using it for some time now thanks to you & Nicholas . I'm currently in Spain and far away from any store that carried tracing paper so I substituted with parchment paper and it worked just fine. Paints actually stay wet for a few days . Wow...great idea! My paints have dried up almost immediately, making it very difficult to work. I'm new to acrylic paint. In porcelain painting, we use metal boxes with covers and a piece of glass insert that covered the whole bottom of a metal box. Under the glass, we can draw boxes on plain white xerox paper and place the name of the color pallet or just name the colors that we are using for our project. I suppose also using a plastic square box with a lid would suffice to do the same. Because we use an oil medium..it was easy just to close this up and pack away and keep it fresh for weeks. Using a glass pallet helps keep brushes from getting ruined...so this is also a nice trick. After reading a few other comments..Wilma has a great idea of using a plastic box, kitchen towel & a baking sheet & a cover. Cover is a great idea due to dust. My work with this acrylic painting today was a waste of so much paint and once mixed, it just peeled off like plastic. Not fun! Look forward to trying something different. Thank you so much!
