Great video. I do think the mulberry/yellow ochre combo worked well, but I’d probably just use gray for the others! I guess if you have a limited palette, this would come in handy. Thanks, Pamela!!!!!!

This was very informative, I love that after watching one of your ""Tips, Tricks and Hacks" videos I have another skill in my coloring life. Being new to coloring it can seem overwhelming at first when you look at what other colorists do, with all the information you give I really do believe in time I will improve!! So thank you so much!!! :)

You're very welcome. Once you put all these tips together, you can create a beautiful coloring page. I feel like videos like these are so much more helpful than just doing a coloring video telling you, "Do this...and this...and this". These types of videos help you to find your own style of coloring and your own way of doing things. Happy Coloring!

To avoid muddy colors always mix warm colors with warm and cool with cool. That’s why the yellow one worked so well.

I always glue stubs to a longer pencil because you will end up with a point on the end of the host pencil and not be able to stick on another one. So I add my little bits to a new pencil that will last longer.

Hi Pam..a few things, first: Congratulations on 10Th subscribers! 2) While this technique can be used for shadows, I actually just see it as an extension to what you have said time again about having more colors than what you got in the box and what you think you have...don’t have quite the color you want? See if you can come up with it yourself!!! Unfortunately, I see too many cases where for some reason people are afraid to even experiment in doing this...I have seen too many times, where I explain how to combine a few different colors to come up with a different color and the response is, “why don’t you start a channel and show us how to do that?” Some people just want every single aspect shown to them, so that they don’t have to put the work in themselves...I find that sad because it’s these individuals that do this that get frustrated with their coloring and never can figure out why they aren’t improving. I hope that most of your subscribers can see a few examples and then run with it! Last, but not least...#3) gluing your short pencils to another back to back like that is a great idea, but what happens when you get down to the other side and it starts getting short, how are you going to be able to use it up? To me, it would make more sense to glue it to say a regular graphite pencil or even better go out and buy a dowel the same diameter as our pencils (they are cheap, I got one at Walmart for around 70 cents), cut the dowel down into 3-4” pieces and glue the stubby to one of those...it’s cheap and since the dowel can be sharpened....you get to use every bit of the pencil!

Just a thought! Hm 🤔 IF you want to it would be cool to see you trying to translate the color wheel you using to prismacolor pencils. I’m trying myself right now! And it’s so hard 😂 im new to the wheel but prismacolor are so many and yeah it’s hard to “translate”.😂 I like the video btw! 🥰❤️

It seems like extra work. Can’t the same effect be created by just using different tones of the same color? Or, even just using the exact same pencil but using different pressure to make it darker and lighter?

@@marydimuro2953 For those who don't have a big set of pencils this is helpful....That is how I learned this trick. I only had a 12 set of Polychromos and I learned how to layer and blend, using complementary colors for shadows, and making new colors. Paying attention to temperature still took me a while, and I am still learning from another colorist, how to work with warm and cool grays for shadows. She also has tutorials in the subject.
