Pan-Asian Destroyer "Yueyang" Review - World of Warships Blitz

Yuyang? Yuh-Yang? Yueh-Yang? I've found so many pronunciations, I'm just going to stick with one I like. Best effort, y'all. Anyway, tier 10 Chinese (Republic of, not People's Republic of, the US Navy would not have been in the habit of donating ships to Communist countries in the 1950s) destroyer. I enjoy this line for its tactical potential, and this one is no exception.

Yueyang for a very long time was my favourite t10 dd. I always played it as a dd hunter. As more and more ships were given radar and sonar it became another victim of power creep.

I'm still enjoying the line, it's a good allround combo imo. Yes, radar & sonar are pretty commonplace these days, but for me, that hurts the USN DD line, which had the good smokes as gimmick, a lot more. I tend to use the radar/smoke combo to get an edge over other DDs, but as with anything these days, half the battle is to know what your target is capable of. And in the occasion of some battleships pushing a flank without screens, she can still be quite effective in just defending from stealth.

I don’t understand why u did not take out the bot carrier in the second game with your first launch after chasing that shima back but instead launched against Vermont. If you would’ve launched against the CV first, you would’ve stopped yourself from getting harassed by planes and constantly spotted. Also, taking out the largest value points target and setting you up for a proper destroyer duel. You would have then had the ability to threaten the enemy cap while harassing the Vermont and preventing him from focusing on the other flank 🤷 Thanks for the video, I always enjoy them.

@@argonaut5520 I noticed the moment it happened in the battle. Not ragging on him, but the decision did not make strategic sense to me at the time he did it. I was hoping he could explain to me what he was thinking because I find it interesting to understand decision patterns different than my own and learn from them.

I tend not to drop bot carriers from range, there's a good chance they "magically" know torps are coming and start moving. Kinda default for me, I only torp them close up. But you're correct, tactically, it would have been the better decision.

@@FunandGameswithTerry hi Terry! Hope you are well. Now I understand what you were thinking. I have found that the bot cvs won’t run from torps if nobody has gotten within the magic radius which causes them to start moving. That’s why in situations where I can’t charge the bot cv, I will deliberately launch torps from a distance to keep from triggering them to start their run and thus ensure reliable torp hits.

I've got Chung Mu, and it's a pretty linear progression. But I'll go for Jinan before getting my first T10 DD.

Yueyang was my very first teir 10. The original build I had for her was a gunboat. I didn't know much about the equipment then, and I rebuilt her to have a more traditional Destroyer Layout. I kept everything the same, just added Steering Gear Mod and Surface Detection. If I have learned anything from this line, they are all well-rounded ships, just built them to one focus, and a destroyer build anywhere else.

I see them as a "better version" of USN DDs. Instead of the mostly useless defAA and largely power-crept smokes, they get radar and better torps, while still retaining the overall general-purpose DD nature

I started on this line when it was new and never finished... I find that "deep water torps" is something I hafta be in the mood for, but fun nonetheless....

I've been on/off this line for a bit, but I quite enjoy the DW torps. I find that they change my mindset, I don't even _think_ about using them on DDs, which can often give me a couple seconds head start while they decide if they want a gunfight or launch torps.

Still have to finish the video, but can't stop thinking, why should i grind this line? - fushun: the best dd of this line... I know am overdoing it, but am sure that funshun could do well (better) in tier x with some help. It has better gun than upper tiers, thanks to it's soviet origin, she is monstrous! - jinan:... Yes.. why should i play yueyang when jinan line is there..?.. I really would like to like this dd pan asian line, but... Meh?

I found myself in same quandry... When Swedish dds appeared I stopped working the PanAsian and never went back, stopping at t7 I think(?) Then a dozen new lines later... Maybe someday ....

I can't really explain it, but I enjoy the multirole setup. This line, for me, has made USN DDs obsolete. Jinan is definitely what I'm working towards primarily, though.

Easy, Nevsky. Petro is a terrible ship imo, she has the armour of a cruiser, with the manoeuvrability and size of a battleship. Nevsky is a pretty good HE spammer, and at least has some measure of utility. As usual, my 2c 😁

Hey Terry! I need a suggestion: I'm currently playing my Seattle and is the Worcester worth getting? I'm already at 160k ship XP and have 154k Free XP if I would go for the Worcester. But is the Premium 250k free XP equipment for Worcester worth it? And should I use the free XP here? What's your suggestion?

Worcester is a pretty linear progression from Seattle. Faster guns, same arcs, same utility, better stats. If you enjoy Seattle, Worcester is more or less the T10 version of it (with still best-in-game AA). The legendary module is worth it imo, no downsides - you get range, dispersion (doesn't really matter at that fire rate) and AA range (which is good, since you already have a massive range). Personally, I wouldn't spend free XP to skip ahead on a grind, unless it's a terrible one, like Izumo. Seattle is a very good T9 for me, so I'd probably recommend using some boosters to accelerate your grind, and save the free XP for the legendary module. If you don't like Seattle, and want to skip, Worcester isn't that different... same style, just better stats.

It's a fun ship. Not grind priority (I tend to lose focus too much, and I really want a Jinan) but definitely going to get it one day.
