the short-ish guy who seems to be the main singer has too flat of a voice, it doesn't actually _act_ the music

He's singing quite a high song live with headphones while playing keyboard, no the singing isn't perfect but it's pretty damn good for the situation. Also that's not the "main singer", that's Peter Kirk who writes all of their songs, so he doesn't need to act the music - he is the music.
