I feel like the keyboardist was totally following along with notes on the laptop, then came to a part that said "keyboard solo" and went "wait, that's me!" and just started jamming like that was always the plan. 😂 Crushed it, dude. Loved the performance from him and everyone.

That pianist is Eldar Djangirov. Look him up. He was a child prodigy and is one of the most gifted pianists of his generation.

@@weswill5 ehhhhh it's a matter of taste lol. I'm not a fan of some of Knower's earlier electro stuff, but you're right that Zappa has a some tough to listen to stuff in his VAST catalogue.

I can see that to an extent, but I am reminded of Scritti Politti on certain songs when listening to the drum / bass / keyboard interaction, not to mention the pop sensibility in certain cases.

PS: You are wrong about Louis, Sam and Genevieve all have degrees in Jazz from USC. Louis has played w/ the Metropole Big Band. and many LA Jazz Fusion musicians. he has played w/ Kurt Rosenwinkel. He is perfectly capable of playing Straight Ahead. it's just that his heart and soul are somewhere else.
