Kevin, What do you think of Belliesimo hats? Are they worth the price? How is the quality of them? Any info would help.

It is the same Tonak rabbit felt as Magill and Selentino. I know because I own a hat brand that uses Magill hats as a manufacturer, and so does Bellisimo. They take felt colors and blocks from Magill in Canada, put them together and Magill makes them. Now Magill hats are $220-275 free shipping, . My hats, which are a little fancier, are $275 free shipping, Bellisimo is $500 for the same rabbit felt that Magill makes. The same colors, felt,shapes.. I’d have to say,anyone who knows this would have to be very silly to spend $500 on a Bellisimo. They seem to want to copy Borsalino a lot, with the name being similar, they’re counting on folks saying, “oh! That’s that Italian brand with the B I heard about! The expensive ones!!” They confuse it with Borsalino and spend $500 on a $250 Magill. The quality is good, but not $500 good. If there’s a style the make that you like, suggest it in my Facebook group, if it sounds good to everyone,we will make it in the KTG line!

Somewhat, I restore hats every day, but there are certain things I’m just not great at..like sewing, for instance… I can sew, I can sew a wind-cord on, or something simple, but my sewing isn’t neat,or consistent,it’s functional but not pretty,I like to think that I simply know my limitations and try to stick to what I’m good at 😊

What is the difference between the Cuenca and the Quito?

Different cities, slightly different types of weaves. Monticristi,Cuenca and Brisa are basically grades of finer panamas, depending on the fineness of weave. Most of the Cuenca hats I have sold have been bleached and very,very soft and pliable. The cuenca panama is an intermediary weaving with a herringbone shape to the weave,. This weaving way allows the hat to be strong and flexible while having a high quality. Made in the city of Cuenca, its making demands at least 2 weeks of weaving, they’re always busy weaving around the clock in Cuenca. Some Cuencas are so fine, they’re as nice or nicer than some monticristis. A Monticristi usually takes 6 months of weaving, and it is only done after sundown, and only done in a certain region. As far as Quito panamas, that’s another city, like Cuenca and Monticristi, but all the Quito hats I’ve seen have always been a little lower grade,like the cheaper stuff Borsalino makes. The weave isnt that fine, and it’s more affordable, like the majority of the Panama hats you see in the $200 range. The Bollman, Capas, Stetson, Bailey, Goorin, etc Borsalino and Tesi is a perfect example of a brand that sells all three. They have a cheaper line that’s natural colored,and not that fine, a little crunchy. Those are Quito. Look up Borsalino Quito Panama, those are the same as the $200 stuff you see by Capas and Bailey, but they mark them way up, They also have a very soft, bleached line, all bleached, and very soft and spongy, that’s the Cuenca stuff..those are my favorite hats of all time, they’re the most resilient,and breathe well, and they’re lightweight. Borsalino also has a monticristi quality that sells for a ton of money, four figures.. they have finos, and Cuencas and Quitos, the Quito being the cheapest of the three. ., t
