Great video! I love how in-depth you are. I am really curious how the image quality and sharpness of the 35mm f1.8 compares to the 50 mm f1.8 in the same lineup?

@The Hybrid Shooter great video on the lens! Considering picking one up through your affiliate link. I had a couple of questions about the photos in the 'minimal focus distance' @5:33 portion of the video. Do you recall if you used Aperture priority mode and auto WB? If yes, do you use exposure compensation when shooting? - Also, are the photos @5:33 JPEG straight out of camera or were these RAW files processed then imported into the final video. thanks! :)

Great review as always, can I ask you for advice? I would like to get a 35mm for my S5ii, I'm undecided between this and the sigma art 1.4, do you think that the price difference is worth getting the sigma or can the panasonic already be effective, especially on the video side?

Could you comment upon if/how lens correction for video is handled? Is lens correction applied within camera to jpegs and something similar is applied to video files? Thank you.

How do you find the stabilization without the lens being stabilized? Are you shooting with a gimbal?
@ryaneb3

Was Electronic Stabilization on during your walking test? It looked rough and swayed from left to right a lot. The 24mm looks smoother to me.

Lumix 35mm 1.8 is my favourite lens! I noted that the hood you put on the lens at 2:12 is not the correct one for the 35mm ... maybe is from the 20-60 kit lens?

It's 2023, every mirrorless lens is way too sharp. Thats why we all put diffusion filters on them to soften them up. Just get the one you want more.

Would love to see you review the 18mm F1.8. Only thing holding me back is noticing how much the corners are warping in the various s5ii videos.
@AfF3lix

Most reviews dont show the updated Firmware which was released during testphase. Firmware update notes less warping from 18 mm upwards.

The s5ii warps when walking on the 35mm also, I thought it was under 20mm at the 7:50 mark in the video when you were showing the stability

Very good for photos. It has an excellent sensor that produces fantastically malleable files, reliable and fast autofocus, two card slots and a reasonably fast burst rate. The sensor is similar to the Nikon Z6 variants and Sony A7 III.

Getting an S5ii soon and wondering if it's better to get a single Zoom (Sigma 24-70 f2.8 Art) or two primes (This Panasonic 35mm f1.8 and the 80mm f1.8). I guess it's the age old prime vs. zoom debate but I'm yet undecided, leaning towards the Zoom to be honest because of the convenience and versatility but slightly concerned that it being a third party lens will decrease autofocus and performance compared to Pany's own lenses. Any thoughts gentlemen?
@kingsamvisuals
@kingsamvisuals Жыл бұрын
For the s5ii focus on 3rd party is great. The sigma zoom is heavy! It depends on whether or not you can afford to switch lenses at a shoot. If you can then go primes.
@alanb4942
@alanb4942 Жыл бұрын
@@kingsamvisuals Thanks Sam, I appreciate your input. I much prefer to only have one lens on my camera since I don't have much time on the shoots I do. I picked up the S5ii yesterday and felt the difference between the sigma two L mount mid range zooms and will likely go with the 28-70 because of the form factor and similar image quality. Hope you're own camera journey is going well!
@amonkril919

Highly recommend against going with zoom lenses unless youre using it for that specific type of video effect. I've had both and recommend primes everytime. Worried about having to switch lenses just to get the right focal length? You really shouldn't. I found that sticking with 24mm/85mm or 35mm/85mm combo gets my 95% of the shots I want. It makes shooting easier as well without having to worry about the look of all the incremental focal lengths between 24-70. The 2.8 is 4 stops of light from 1.4!
@TheHybridShooter
@TheHybridShooter Жыл бұрын
@@amonkril919 I highly recommend against this type of hypergeneralized advices. Both zooms and primes have different advantages. Especially the part about "incremental focal lengths" makes no sense. And no, it is not 4 stops of light.
@amonkril919
@amonkril919 Жыл бұрын
@@TheHybridShooter My recommendation is from a practical standpoint. You tend to not need most focal lengths outside the primes. Most zoom users seem to eventually switch to primes exclusively except for sports photography or video. It is not a generalization but a very common revelation people have, and it makes alot of sense. Anecodatally, I think the incremental focal lengths just serve as a distraction when it's already alot to manage framing, exposure, and subject posing. Correction on my previous comment: It is 4x the amount of light and 2 stops of light.

Great lens… hows the smallrig black mamba on the s5ii? Would you recommend it over the 8sinn?
@TheHybridShooter

@TheHybridShooter
@TheHybridShooter Жыл бұрын
@@ThePistonPit I don't have 8sinn, I can't answer that. Adding Arca plate is IMO unacceptable solution. Makes the whole setup more bulky, taller and less convenient to use.
