I have the next model EZ49 from 11 years and it works very well. I transfered many vhs on dvd and recorded much from tv on both decks. Videorecorder Panasonic have a very good mechanic and excelent video/audio quality. Thanks for video 👍

I have been looking for a good EZ49 but this series of Panasonic are certainly good and still have good quality build and performance unlike so many others of the same vintage.

Just as an FYI, these VHS mechanisms have several optical sensors for sensing the tape operation. As such, when testing with the case off, cover the deck mechanism with a sheet of cardboard or a towel. This prevents the room lighting from faking out the optical sensors. I see your test showed some erratic tape operation. Blocking the room lighting may help ....

Thanks for this. I did put insulation tape over the holes in the carriage as the light is so bright when I'm recording but some still elaked through. Fully aware of the sensors but I should have explained about them when working with the top cover off - thank you so much for bringing that up. Many of the modern decks seem a lot less affected by visible light hitting the sensors as they use infrared.

They are very worthy machines and really are great. I have a second one but with a fault so keep an eye out for the video on that one.

Hi do you still repair these vhs players cos I own one and think it needs to be re caped and how much would it cost to send to you I live in Walsall West Midlands
