In this final video of this series I look at some camera modifications, using polarising filters and the 4K live cropping mode.

What a great series this has been. Panasonic should be paying you for producing such clear and concise content. I've been using Sony cameras for years but one of my first digital cameras was an old 8mp Panasonic bridge camera. Seeing a used FZ80 for $200 USD, I grabbed it and found this series which has helped me with the functions of the camera immensely . I was so impressed with features and technologies in this camera, I wound up buying an S5 too.

Thanks again for sharing all of these tutorials, Graham. You are an inspiration to get and out and shoot photos and videos! I have all of your suggested mods, except the 'jewel', including the plate on the bottom to center the tripod. This camera is a lot of fun to use and perfect for my personal needs and skill level.

For those asking why they see vignetting at the 20mm wide angle, are you shooting RAW? (If you're shooting with the lens hood attached as in the video here, it's caused by that. Zoom to 22mm and you're good to go.) Because the JPEG automatically produced by the camera comes from an automatically cropped and processed version of that RAW without the vignetting. If you're shooting RAW, make sure to crop it correctly (or perhaps try to remove in your chosen image editing software). Also make sure to correct the barrel distortion, else the image will stay warped. Changing track, if you want the best image quality out of this camera you will need to fully turn off the noise reduction and sharpness (i.e., set them to -5, because yes, even at 0 their noise reduction and sharpening algorithm is still active) for your chosen image setting (standard, vivid, etc..). This is because their noise reduction and sharpening algorithms both introduce horrible noise/artifacting into the scene. If you decide to keep them on in any degree, make sure to turn off Intelligent Resolution, which makes the artifacting much worse. Granted, that's not a prescription for every scene, since sometimes, though rarely, the default noise reduction and sharpening can work okay, but you can always achieve better results editing the RAW.

have this camera for about two months now, already took 1000+ photos (and some videos) with it but I'm still learning. your videos surely help in familiarizing how to manipulate the settings etc. as of the moment my issues with it are the lack of sharpness and occassional vignette on one corner of the photo (no idea why it happens). also, if I limit the Iso to a low value, the generated image would show just black.

In semi automatic modes P, A or S in low light and low ISO the shutter speed should increase to capture the image. Only in manual mode would you have to adjust r shutter speed to achieve the correct exposure

Hi Mr. Houghton. I finally started to watch your last series of FZ80 tutorials. Is not the first time you make such a series but I always find something to learn on that.In this case I started this series in this video which is the last one. I do not why but I did so and maybe is not the best idea. I say that because I did not get exactly when can I use the 4K live cropping and the benefits of that, although It is clear how to do it. Maybe this is explained in a previous video, right? Another doubt I have is the difference between the BW printed Manual and the pdf you send after. Is just colour in the images or it contain more or different information? Thanks again and greetings from Uruguay.

I have the FZ330 and I'm thinking about picking one of these up for a birding camera. But people say the image quality is quite poor in comparison to the 330. I'll be shooting raw and using pp software so noise shouldn't be an issue. How do you find it compared to the FZ330?

Why are RAW photos shot at 20mm always vignetted in the corners?

Do you think that Panasonic will be releasing another bridge camera with a larger sensor but with upto date features like those on the FZ82 with a good focal range (I'm not talking about the FZ100 II or the FZ2500)?

I've no inside track knowledge but I doubt it. The Sony RX10 mkIV is the nearest to your specification and I am starting a new series on that camera - shortly.
