2019. This beast still rocks. Really avanced for the time it came out. The hack lets you record 1080p in 80mbps. Even most 4k consumercameras nowadays are still recording in 60 mbps, more expensive ones in 100mbps. But no 100mbps in 1080p. I sold mine 4 years ago to buy a gh4. I regret it ztill. I would buy a gh1 body anytime again. Propably could pick a 2nd hand body up for 75 to 100 euro's. For what the camera can do, its a great bargain.

I started the interchangeable lens systems with the GH2. I started out with that one, rather than a T2i/550D or T3i/600D (Magic Lantern) because a hacked GH2 (Personal-view/Vitaliy) performed super well in both the Philip Bloom Christmas special and Zacuto shootouts and was the more compact system of the two (still a reason why I don't go fullframe, and Sony fails to see the need for nice body design with compact lenses native to the sensor size). Anyways. The GH2 was stunning, not that great in lowlight though, but I kinda liked the grain, it looked quite organic, opposed to the Canons that looked digital and compressed. Shooting black & white on the GH2 still has an awesome vibe to it. Colors in lowlight tended to go a little weird, magenta 'n stuff, but stunning performance other wise in bright conditions. In the end you can make a lot work if you're willing to make it work. 😊

Nice video. Is the 100mb/s bitrate only a catch word or can the camera really write so fast to the SD card? If so, what kind of sd card is need for such high writing speed? Thank you

bits is different to Bytes so 100mb/s is like 15MB/s

Yesterday 11/11/17 I bought a brand new GH1 in a shop here in the Netherlands. Is it still possibe and also a good idea to hack the camera? For better video most of all. And when the answer is yes, what I’ve to do to make it work? Thank’s in advance!

Yes. Just google vitaly gh1 hack. You download it to a pc. Make the settings, save those on an formatted sd-card and start your camera up with the card in it. It will overwrite the existing firmware. Try out the settings. If you want other settings repeat the settings on the pc. Of course its always possible to go back to the factory firm ware.

Really good. I wonder where is FPN (fixed pattern noise). I have GH1 too and if I shoot 400 iso FPN appears... :(

Not recommend it for vlogging, better off with G6 or G7 honestly. The Gh1 monitor is horrid to work with any auto focus aint great either.
