I like these photo-walk style videos better than some dry review. I had a GH1 for a while and, while I agree it's quite capable for photography, it just has some quirks that are pretty annoying!

As a watcher of camera / photography videos both you and Markus pics are terrific and I think share the same attitude to your neighbourhood. Markus rarely shots in his neighbourhood his subject is normally on a rock or tree somewhere else. Infact for me, most of the US walk around vids look like yours, as if you seek them out for art or something. like a scenes from a Scandinavian detective series, with a look and feel all a bit "nothing to see here, its all in the content" when out and about. At least you have a inflatable pink flamingos in yours to raise a smile. Anyways looking forward to you getting hold of a Pen f digital, to reveiw. Thanks again for your video. P.S Have a look at a David Thorpe walk around video, always excellent and local to me. For us, interesting must be just around the corner.

I agree with the six comments before mine. Love your videos and yes this walk around video was very enjoyable to watch. It feels to me like you are walking around the outskirts of Atlanta. I lived just North of Atlanta for six years and loved that area. I ordered the Nikon D200 a few days ago from KEH because of your video on that camera. Excited to get it tomorrow. Thanks!

So cool, I hope you like the D200. It really is one of my favorites. And you were close, I’m about five hours south of Atlanta.

I liked the random reference to James Popsys :-) but it's true that a suburban environment doesn't always help with inspiration

I like the photo walks. Your local suburban locales look pretty anonymous but the last few shots around the pool were really good and aren’t something you can easily find in Ireland, where I live, so that made the whole area look different to my eye. I also suspect James has to drive around Wales for hours (or fly to Antarctica, lol) to get his shots. Everyone’s local area looks different to someone else. Keep looking for the quirky stuff.

I enjoyed your photo walk type review, what it actually feels like to use in real life. I know what you mean about trying to find motivation for scenes to photograph. During COVID we were restricted in France to only being able to go out for 1 hour a day and only to a max of 1 km from the house. Enough for exercise, but very difficult for photography! There’s only so many times I can take a photo from our cliff top path!

Thanks Steve. I just got to own one of these about a week ago.I am enjoying it a lot alongside the GH2 which I got at the same time..You look pretty young from my viewpoint. To solve your lack of nature around you you could move to Australia. cheers. Geoff

This is your first video that I have watched and I decided to subscribe. You remind me of myself but I haven't posted a video of one of my photo walks for awhile because it has been too hot. Now that Fall is here I will be doing them again. I have the Lumix G7, G85 and the G9, someday maybe I will get the GH6. Going to check out your other videos now. Later.

Love all your videos Steve, including this one. Pics are good and the GH1 looks like a great purchase as a fun camera for many reasons / situations etc? Both reviews and Photo walks are great and as a suggestion, have you ever done any videos on using different lenses on different cameras? Like a great Sony lens on the GH1 for instance? And what about comparisons between similar (old) cameras? Whatever you do, it's always fun, interesting, informative and entertaining, so please keep on doing it. 😀🙏

Fascinating thoughts as always. Love your sardonic humour. Perhaps you're needing a trip for some inspiration. I can recommend Ireland - the land of song, music and laughter. You won't feel uninspired for very long and you can visit the actual Cliffs of Moher!

Oh hey Ali, I started to mention this on your video yesterday (the Michigan travel vlog) but then I convinced myself my comment was boring so I didn’t finish it. Lol But yeah, I was gonna say, that video made me so happy. It was so creative and fun, plus your style is amazing. I really hope you post more vlogs in the future.

I have the GH2 its not bad for photos. The grip is fine for smaller lens but I don't like it for bigger lens. Files are nice and they edit fine. When I first started shooting weddings with M43 the Olympus OMD E-M5 I really liked better for photography.
@bigrobotnewstoday1436

The problem with the GH1 and GH2 is that the ergonomics are not the best for photography. I do like the Olympus OMD E-M5 a lot better for stills just the way it works in the hands.

The hacked version will freeze up if you move the camera too fast, and you must then remove the battery to unfreeze it . Too much trouble... so I sold the GH1 but I still use the hacked GH2.

Love these videos. We appreciate your time and work. For people like me who want to buy a cheap camera, we want to know what' is the best bang for buck in the $50, $100, 150 and $200 range. How would you rank the cameras and if you had to pick one in each range, which would you pick. Thanks again. Blessings

My suggestion for you is Samsung nx 500. Owners kinda wanna get rid of it at pretty low prices especially in the US since samsung pulled out of camera market since years. Its image quality holds up surprisingly well in today's standards. Take your time to search in the web what this camera is capable of.

@@obscurelight The NX issue is a very limited range of lenses and lack of availability, not to mention getting it fixed if it breaks. I had an NX200 about 9-10 years ago and it was a very capable camera, but I'm not sure the NX system is a good investment today.
@steve_heise
@steve_heise 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks and as far as the NX500 goes, it’s a great camera. I’ve got some great Samsung lenses like the 16mm f2.4, the 30mm f2 and the 45mm f1.8, but unfortunately, I do think a lot of them are harder to find nowadays.

I kind of feel like you should’ve gave it time in order to do the process of taking photos and then do something regarding video, but give it time and do the project because it’s like you weren’t sure to begin with and then you jumped into something else and then you kind of bash the first camera and it’s likea video at 4:33 but you should really give it a whole day or a whole week or a couple months and then do a review not rushing into things but that’s just my opinion

I'm struggling to find old, cheap mirrorless which is not losing it's peaking/focus magnification while recording video. The only one I know is Canon M3, but I want something cheaper than that. Fuji xa/xm will lose it as we press the recording button. Do you know any mirrorless with that function? Thanks.

@@QuicknStraight A sound solution, and it's popular with the lantern. But I want to know another body who has it natively. Steven might know a lot of it, and more choices never hurt.

I own the GH2, and I find the distinct 'Panasonic' aesthetic of the images produced by their cameras incredibly unappealing. This 'Panasonic' look, which also plagues their televisions, is marked by over-contrast, excessively deep blacks, and an annoyingly subtle overly warm reddish/magenta hue tint. It's simply awful! In contrast, the 'Fuji' look, with its deliciously saturated greens and blues, or the more neutral 'Sony' look, are both far superior. Even the now-defunct Samsung camera line was promisingly a much better alternative (RIP Samsung NX).

See its not that bad for what it was intended for, photographs lol. On these older cameras video was an afterthought, not fair to just it based on that.
