The original GH5 has been, and still is, one of our favorite video tools here at LPTG, so that means we are super excited to announce the latest model of this camera... the GH5 II! In this week's video, we will just be doing a quick test of the ISO values of the GH5 II as well as preview some sample footage from this camera in low-light environments.

Hi, thank you for sharing your very interesting video, You have a lot of experience and I would like to ask you a question x please: I only do documentaries in 4K, and as soon as I can I will go to Africa to film people with dark skin and strong sun, but not in the city , but in their villages. Would you be kind enough to tell me you would configure the GH5 MII? I mean which color profile, 25p 4: 2: 2 or 50p 4: 2: 0, etc. etc. However I use a good variable ND filter. I do the video editing myself. 1000 thanks for your advice.

HOLA BUEN VIDEO. necesito tu ayuda tengo u na panasonic gh5II y cuando conecto la camara al pc y quiero formatea o escribir en la tarjeta sd conectada directamente con el pc no me deja . la ssd la tengo bien puesto que si realizo la misma operacion con un lector de tarjeta si me deja formatear etc, me puede ayuda si ustede si puede formatear con dicha camara conectada al pc, gracias

In my experience, you still need good lighting conditions with the GH5M2. Once in bad light, if you bump up your ISO to 3,200, it's somewhat usable but you need to denoise quite heavily in post, which requires a powerful computer. ISO 6,400 is barely usable in real-world scenarios, such as poorly lit rooms. ETTR is highly recommended when shooting at ISO 1,600 or higher.

All of the sample footage was taken using the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8, wide open, the test was shot on the Leica 42.5mm f/1.4 which is an incredible MFT lens as well

Great stuff, but the changes in ISO and bitrates were a bit fast to follow. Perhaps some longer night clips at different settings and magnification? Cheers!

Yes, a significant difference. In my experience, around 1600 ISO and beyond on either the GH3 or GH4 would start to not look as clean in low-light as the GH5 or GH5 II.
