Panasonic LiveCTRL iOS App PTZ Control, Presets Recording & Streaming on an iPad!

LiveCTRL makes the most of the broadcast-level video the Panasonic PTZ cameras deliver, in a simple, clean, and very easy-to-carry iPad interface.
When it comes to multi-camera live production, there’s any number of broadcast-level companies willing to fulfill your needs. From Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Canon, Hitachi, to all the companies making video mixers, recorders, and streaming appliances. There’s no shortage of solutions to fill a trailer.
There are also several companies making integrated solutions, like NewTek Tricaster, and other software-based video mixing solutions like vMix, Wirecast, OBS, mimoLive, and others. These seek to integrate mixing, titles, video playback, graphics, recording, and streaming into one compact device.
The latest iteration of this are the iOS-based live video production solutions that I’ve written about: Switcher Studio, Teradek Live:Air Action, and Cinamaker. These offer many of the same integrated production features in an iPad Pro-based solution. But now, there's one more: Panasonic LiveCTRL.
Panasonic itself has released an iOS app to produce multi-camera live production on an iPad. Now, this isn't an entirely new solution. It's based upon the core components of Cinamaker (Figure 2, below), and you need a Cinamaker license to add additional sources to the app, but Panasonic LiveCTRL does what no other iOS-based solution does: it directly interfaces with Panasonic's broadcast-level Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) cameras.

Is the IPAD app LiveCTRL connected to the PTZ cameras (no wireless capabilites) by connecting the IPAD thru an adapter hardwired to the network or can I wireless conect the IPAD to same network that the cameras are hardwired? If I have only one camera (like now) directly to the IPAD over the cat5?

You can put the iPad on the LAN with an Ethernet adapter amzn.to/3mbk5BP Or you can add a wireless access point (no router) to the LAN.

Hello. Please how do I get the App? Secondly can the app serve as PTZ control while I use vmix and ndi for production using Panasonic PTZ cameras?

Wonder if there will be a software update to smooth out those presets. They were quite jerky and probably wouldn't be good live.

It's the same on high end hardware. Typically, moving between presets happens when a different camera is being shown. At that point, you want the move between presets to happen as fast as possible. I merely stayed on the camera doing the move so you could see that it was indeed moving the camera and I wasn't "faking it" with two cameras.

@@IEBATechThoughts That makes sense. I'm not as familiar with PTZ's. Would hope for a slower "active zoom" speed and then a fast "resetting" speed.

@@CorporateStreams You coudl go into the PTZ and change the speed at which it transitions, but then, it's always going to transition at that speed, even when not the active camera.

The full production app (30 day free trial) with license to Cinamaker doesn’t appear to be updated with the most reason fixes, features, etc Cinamaker has made over the last year. I have tried 3 test during July 15-July 31 2020 and wasn’t able to get cameras to switch between PTZ and (3) connected iPhones via Cinamaker Capture app! Also, support and/or knowledge database, chat line, email support, etc doesn’t seem to exist. This video is very good and was first published in 11/2019 but no further help seems available by Panasonic. Cinamaker Director app is well documented and supported! I be interested in Anthony’s reviewing the current LiveCTRL app as of 7/32/20
