well from what i've read others do there are two ways to fix 2 issues: articulating screnn. The panasonic app is so intuitive and functional that it can be used to replace the selfie vlogging mode no mic input. The mic to phone is used to record audio and then synced via software

The GM5 comes with some obvious limitations, but it's pretty extraordinary (especially with the tiny twin zooms.) It's almost as capable as the GX series as a stills camera, perhaps you should review that next - you may like it.

Nice review and interesting comparison with GX8. I think I'd prefer GX8 for size and ergonomics, particularly with telephoto lenses. However, I opted for the GX80 because it is cheaper and I actually prefer the tilt screen to FAS. Better IS is also a plus and the tilt screen gives faster access to touch focus as well as being more discrete. Also the removal of shutter shock is a big plus. I only currently have the 14-45zoom and 50-200mm zoom but it will be interesting to see how they perform on the newer body with DFD tech and faster processor.

Such a great real world review. I appreciate that you began with pointing out you just LIKE USING THIS CAMERA! That sometimes it’s hard to explain but you know when you love a camera. It’s a real thing that many reviews miss! I agree on the responsiveness (“it just does it”) as I was comparing to Canon M50 which has an awful review delay that gets in the way of operation. By comparison the Panny m43 cameras including this one just feel snappy and immediate, I love that!

That one is reaally great for me. A 3.5mm jack is not needed (Post sync). Just the flipping screen, some more lenses and some more supplies like a infrared wireless shutter click machine would be great.

Great review Harry. I would agree gx85 > gx8 where it counts (ois/ shutter shock/ video stabilisation) also I found the gx8 layout slightly difficult to use. I would also say flip screen is better for hip shooting, fully articulating is slow to take quick shots on the street or in groups of people.

I bought the gx80 to test along side my newly bought g7. However the noise from the IBIS is so apparent on videos with the GX80, filming and playing back in a quiet room sounds like if there wind or similar. Anything you have experienced?

I did say in a previous video you did that I had a gm5 and a fuji xe2, anyways I've borrowed a gx80 for a few days and honestly it's bloody lovely to use and like you said there's something attractive about it, I was gonna sell my xe2 and purchase a x100t but I think I might just get the gx80.

Great review on the GX80/85. you state you can see the IBIS working( steadinng your image) but i cant see this when composing, so what am i not doing

I was hoping to buy a GX8 or even a G7 but the shutter shock issue with Panasonic camera's is pushing me towards Fuji Hopefully the GX80 doesn't have this problem

From my experience the new shutter has solved the problem. Used with 12-35, 45-175 and 19mm sigma so far - with and without IS switched on - no shutter shock that I can detect.

I was worried. About shutter shock too was going to get one but as em 1 came a long. With 12 x40 mm pro 2.8. Great lens couldn't refuse.

I'm a total beginner to photography and I'm looking to buy my first camera soon. I do a lot of hiking in the mountains so I'm looking for a small camera to pop in my rucksack thinking the gx80 would be a great travel camera but would about landscape photography? Any suggestions thanks.

Micro 4/3 s are really good for landscape! I have a canon 5d m3 and for landscapes I still prefer my Panasonic the pictures are just so sharp, and the details are amazing

Absolutely brilliant review Harry! are you saying the Lumix cameras is better than my Olympus OMD EM5? because I would like to buy one if they are! I know they are micro four third as the Olympus's are, but that auto focusing was so impressive Harry. I know they have better video, but I am not interested in video just stills!

the 2 main issues i found with the em5mkii were the continuous af was really inconsistant and drove me mad, and i could not set the camera up how i like to shoot, oh and I couldn't fathom some of the menus, oh and the touch screen was poorly implemented.

also don't forget the 4k is not just for video, you also get some really cool features on the back of it.
