I have a 60" Panasonic plasma TV sitting in my room that I have been hoping to repair for the last 7 years. I hope a simple repair like this will get it going and I also hope it will be worth the wait. Thank you for posting your TV repairs. Saving machines from the scrapyard is what I do also. People are far too quick to junk repairable things these days.

I was given one of these sets just over 3 years ago (50" version), Wouldn't turn on but the standby light flashed, I recall something about counting the standby light flashes to determine the fault, Now i am only a 'dabbler' in electronics & rely on repair forums etc for information, The number of flashes mine gave I could find no info on & at that time used boards were still fetching a premium, Luckily I just happened to find another identical model with a smashed screen & got it for a £5 (result!), So I just cheated & swapped all the boards over & now 3 years later still all is well!, (but have kept the old boards of course), I take it the standby wasn't present on this one so this video will no doubt come in useful in the future. I've got an absolutely beautiful LG 60 inch plasma. Standby flashes red, twice, then nothing. Breaks my heart. I've loved that TV.

I've two Panasonic Plasma TV's, one 43, the other 37. Both great, on black and silver. And quite correct, great for winter, but had to put on a fan and bag of ice watching tonight's F1 Race, bloody sweltering!!

Great set, very good model, I think from memory, some sort of eco management device, caused a few problems the first few years, especially with people who mains switched everything off at night.

I have a panasonic p55vt50 and yesterday it worked fine. I then connected a google chromecast to my receiver, I look up and my tv is dead. I have a couple of spare boards so I changed the current one with another and I changed the powersupply unit that is connected to the board. I hear a click but for the rest it still is dead. Do you have an idea what the problem might be?

I think the people at the factory got tired of tightening all the screws used holding backs on and forgot to tighten the grounding screws on the pcbs. I've found this to be a common issue.

One thing I can sugest with "all" panasonic plazma TV's is to allways check that all the board Grounding screws are tight as bad grounds from loose ground screws on these sets are a known issue, and a loose grounds will damage the boards , As Allways assume the caps on the boards are charged and are just waiting to shock you back into the stone age until proven otherwise with a multimeter set to measure high voltage DC. .. great repair example ..

I have a question for you. On the Panasonic ST60 there is a potentiometer # VR251 located on the powerboard. Turning it up and I'm assuming increase voltage and seems to increase peak brightness by a small amount. There is no information regarding it or its function in the service manual. Do you have any idea what its actual function is used for? I have 3 ST60s and each one is in a slightly different position. Perhaps they are used to fine-tune panel brightness to a certain reference at the factory. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this.

If you are talking about a plasma. , it sets the voltage to the scan boards. The voltage will be marked on the back of the screen. It needs to be exact for best picture.

I have a model TC-P50x3. We had a power surge and it hasnt turned back on. It was plugged into a surge protector...didnt help. Would the same issue apply? Thank you.
