I have a 42" Panasonic plasma, model TH-42PZ700U, for the 4th time over the years the TV shut off &the blinking red light came on. In the past Panasonic would fix this free of charge cause it was an issue with this TV, Currently I am getting 10 blinks before it stops & blinks 10 times again. Do you know what 10 blinks means?. Thank you

thanks so much for the quick response. After taking better look with a flash light, I found where he hit it and yes it is cracked. Tooooooo bad... I want to tell you that you had the best video explaining how to test things and I really appreciated it. a couple of questions: is it worth selling it for someone that needs parts? And, if you were going to by a 55" flat screen, what would you buy; keeping in mind cost, viewing and life span? Thanks again

You may find it beneficial to sell the SC and buffer boards and likely less beneficial to sell any of the others (since those 3 fail most), but chances are one or more of them are shorted as a result of the failure and the sale value may not be that high as most people might find them unusable. Someone like us who can repair them , on the other hand, would need to have them for relatively low, first because of the risk that they may need to be serviced and second because there has to be some profit left after such a repair. We tell people to just put them on eBay with $0.99 starting price and longest period and let market decide what is fair value; you will want to send emails to anyone who you may think could be interested in bidding. Pretty much any 55'' you buy out there will most likely be very cheaply done and would not last long. I would go for low cost and extended warranty rather than top brand/high cost and no warranty.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I got a different -problem with Panasonic TC-P50X5 50" Plasma TV. It turns on and displays image. However, about just a minute it shuts off and red blinking light sets in. It turns for about 10 times, pauses and goes for another 10 times. I was wondering what causes this issue. If I disconnect the power cable and plug it in again, it would do the same thing. Thanks for your help.

Not familiar with this pattern, sorry. How many times does it blink and does it automatically restart after that? I don;t think I've ever seen Panasonic blink an error code and then restart.

@@coppelltvrepair thanks a million for taking your time to get back to me. I double checked the issue. I turned on the TV. It displays images normally. Just about 1 minute, screen goes black and red power light kicks in. It blinks 12 times and pauses. It continues with the blinking and pausing pattern until I shut it off.

@@tmarcel1594 If your plasma has fans take a closer look at them. One of them may not be turning at all. if so give it a manual spin. You can try running without it for a while.

@@coppelltvrepairThanks a lot. I am going to do exactly that. However, I don't remember seeing one the last time I opened it. It is the TC-P50X5 MODEL. I WILL DOUBLE CHECK. thanks again.

great video thanks. My grandson threw a AA battery at my Panasonic Plasma and it went dead. I am getting the 7 blinking lights, but I guess my question is: would that cause one of the boards to go bad or could the screen be bad as well

if the TV stopped working as a result of something thrown at it then it is logical to expect the display has been broken.

I followed your testing guidelines for the diodes and transistors - seem that more than one is busted - more like 3 or 4 - will measure again - is that normal?
