This would be akin to debating between spaghetti and elbow noodles. They are the same thing, despite the merits to the different shapes, so arguing between them is pointless. It would be much more productive to introduce ravioli into the discussion, because while it is pasta, it is a fundamentally different food, which makes the comparison more interesting. The same is true with breakfast foods. Pancakes and waffles are essentially the same thing, so there is little to say between them (although waffles have an objectively superior shape). It is much more interesting, and valid, to introduce French toast into the mix as another sweet, cooked breakfast food, and the discussion is much more complex.

Am I the only one who doesn't automatically prefer French Toast? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, but it's always about what I'm in the mood for. If I don't want a lot of work? Pancakes. If I want extra decadence, like J said? French Toast. If I'm willing to put a little more work in for a specific, yet also delicious outcome? Waffles. PS: Any Dropout/D20 fans here? Because the section from 3:33 reminded me of the cake v pie discussion with Brennan and Aabria: "Are you trying to achieve greatness or are you trying to avoid disappointment?" 😅😂🥰

Waffles have a better texture but the spreadability of butter is better on pancakes because it doesn't get stuck in any annoying holes
