Mahabaleshwar (4500 ft asl) and Panchgani (4000+ ft asl) are twin hill-stations situated at 230 kms from Mumbai and 100-120 kms from Pune.
Ideally Mahabaleshwar/ Panchgani is visited during summers for relaxation and to beat the heat and it rains a lot in monsoon. The area gets misty, driving to Mahabaleshwar / Panchgani is an experience with spontaneous waterfalls all over.
There used to be a time when almost all of Mahabaleshwar used to be closed in Monsoon. However now guests arrive here to enjoy the drive and monsoon experience. So if idea is to enjoy lot of rains, waterfalls and misty weather then Mahabaleshwar / Panchgani is an excellent option.
