In this pasuram, the bhaagavathaas of thirukottiyur are described as hamsams, which are white as the shankam held by Him resting on adhiseshan, who is renowned for his kainkaryams. Like the shankam, they also have valainja tanmai, madhura vaakku, always singing His praise and doing all kinds of kainkaryams.
In svaadhyaaya kaalam we, as saamaanyaals earn a living. We should do so, thinking we are doing this for Him; for the nurturing of our body in which He resides, and for those in our family that we are duty bound to take care of.
Aazhwaar says that the neer and aadai of a person who does not think of Him in svaadhyaaya kaalam have done paavam and hence got attached to such a man. If his parugum neer and udukkum koorai themselves have done paapam, there is no question how much paavam he has done, and so will surely go to narakam.
