It takes guts to marry a dying female.. Kishore knew abt Madhubala condition and gave her love and happiness by marrying her... People require some sense of maturity to understand Kishore..

Had heard that the last arrangement was done by Pyarelal of LP…not sure if this was the time when RD-Pyarelal pairing was developing before SD Intervened against RD pairing with anyone. Not sure about the real truth but if you hear the last arrangement again there is some substance to this argument as you can clearly hear Pyarelal style of orchestration and not really from the RD school of thought ( though he didn’t have boundaries). 2 cents…

Wah Maddy - kya baat There’s a Bengali version too, by Kishore - Ek din paakhi ude jaabe je akashe / Firibe na se to aar karo aakashe. It’s softer, has yodelling, and lyrics - typical Bengali philosophical pathos. The harder notes of yodelling are modulated to suit softer under current of the song. But who am I to underline the beauty, but an admirer at 78? Would love to hear from you about the fifth version. One day.

Rafis version is just superb without discrediting kishores. It is not just musical arrangements. Rafi is the only singer who can bring dramatic modifications to any song without changing the tone and the tune. Normally, a sad version of any song is sung by reducing the speed. That did not happen here. No wonder RD has himself admitted, Rafi is the epitome of singing. Rafi rightfully is called wonder boy of india. RD hardly had played any role in grooming Rafi. That was left to Naushad, SD, SG, OP, RAVI, ROSHAN and many others. Later LP joined. Rafi is surrounded by no less than 50 top notch composers. It had to be. For 25 years, a male chauvinistic society need Rafi more than any other singer. Asha or sadhna or Saira or madhubala never sat with Lata or Asha. It was Rafi that brought Shammi, Rajendra, Dev, Joy etc....... into recording rooms. Rafi was like Dulha surrounded by hope. As if bailing out chocolate heroes for quarter century. He was the hope of musicians.
