I just put 2 in my 55g and 1 in my 15g. All a little under an inch, but doing well. Theyre not picky eaters, and neither tank is a new tank. I love them

Very interesting guide for keeping this fascinating species. I got a group of 5 two weeks ago in a 180 ltr. tank. Will certainly take your advice into account. I also have a question: What did you do to grow this nice algae on the stone (or is it wood?). It looks great in your tank. Thanks.

Hiya Terry! I recently got 5 of these fun little fish. They never slow down! Was looking them up on here and this video popped up. Great job! Mine seem to like dancing up and down the glass a lot in between cruises around the hardscape. Do yours do that? I would love to see what the other kind of garra is like. Nice job on this :)

My Panda Garra are all doing well, I have them in 4 tanks. I just want to know how they breed. I feed mine Pleco pellets, and some flake that drops to the bottom and also a good pellet designed for catfish regardless of species. They are hilarious. They are so compatible with almost anything, I have not found a fish they do not get along with.

@@TerryL263 they really are a cool little fish. Your video was nice to watch because you do see everything on the internet telling you that you have to have crazy flow or they won’t do well. I am going to use a sponge filter with an air stone , and also put a 240gph wavemaker in with them, so I think they will do just fine. Thanks for the video, it was really helpful.

How many would you recommend you keep in a group? Or could it still be happy as the only garra in the tank? Tank size irrelevant.

Hey, i bought three of these little guys and they're doing good from what I've seen, haven't noticed any type of agression, they dont bother eachother, dont nip at eachother or anythjng like that. Should i buy one or two more anyway? Also they do a thing where they jump around the flow of my filter and seemingly do loops as if they were playing? Is this really just play behaviour or should i be worried? Ive seen one of them do it at first and then the others joined in and it got me wondering 😅
@weirdcatthing Жыл бұрын
To add on, they are mature already, ive had them for a few months now and they were already pretty big when i got them so i dont think they don't fight because theyre too young
@kathrynvanwaart2 жыл бұрын
So my Garra's kind off bullies my fancy goldfish, and my hand. Everytime my goldie tries to eat near the garra they will push them and a couple of times i have witnessed the bigger garra sucking the sides of my goldy ending up with one of the scales getting torn off. This behaviour also happend a couple of times when my hand was in the tank for cleaning off algee. This bigger garra attached himself to my arm and proceeded to scrap of some skin. Not big enough for actual impact but enough to be noticeable on the thin parts of the skin. Also i have noticed that particularly the younger garras will jump out of the water. I used to have a wide waterfall attached to the filter and the garras loved to be little salmons and swim op this waterfall and be in the filter compartments. Once they grew bigger and knew there was nothing above the waterfall they stopped jumping. But that also proves that they actually learned/memorised their environment.

I have no trouble keeping a pair in a community tank. Maybe because I have a male and a female?
@kathrynvanwaart2 жыл бұрын
How do you determine its a male or a female. I havent had problems with bullying but i guess that might have to do with that both live at opposite ends of the 90L tank. But after 2 years i begin to notice them actually going near eachother and i think they might become a breading pair. But i havent been able to find a propper guide on how to sex them

I've watched this video quite a few times now (no skipping) because I have got a pair of Panda Garra's at Christmas. They are little guy's that's for sure approx 19mm/ 3/4" long. They are the best fish that I have ever had, they won't eat flake or pellets but all the bit's of Algae in my tank they are making mince meat of, they won't eat anything else! Not even Daphnia or Tubifex! They just want algae. They get along with my other fish no problem and no fighting yet but I think they are to small to fight lol. I usually salt my tank for the extra nutrients, help slime coats etc... NOT too much salt because I have plant's in the same tank and they are thriving to say the least. I just can't find any info if they can withstand small amounts of salt 2 tablespoons to 160 litre of water.
@TerryL2634 жыл бұрын
I can't answer the salt question because it depends on many other factors. I can say if you have a pair as they mature they will squabble. Wether they do any real damage or if it will be a problem is something you'll notice over time.

I keep them with shrimp. They eat dead ones but I have never seen them eat adults. Shrimplets would just need a place to hide where they can't reach if they eat them at all. I have a pile of lava rock doing that job nicely.

we have about 20 shrimp in a community tank with the pandas- only thing is that the pandas do really not care if a shrimp tries to catch a bite of fish food too and the shrimp have to be a bit braver then to not get in their way, but they would never attack or approach a shrimp. not sure for freshly hatched baby shrimp though- ours are used to eat bloodworms and other living food too.
