Yea, another person had just commented on the price of it. It's been around for a few years now and not a lot were made. So those that are still available the price has since gone up. The standard edition (the one I got) was 800 and the special edition was 900 when first released.

@@heatplayz8242 It was never cheap to begin with. When I got it when it first came out in 2016 the price was $800 USD for the standard edition and $900 for collectors edition. Now it is just over $1000 USD, but it also comes with a carry case. So is it cheap now, no. Well it ever? Only if it's damaged. Think of them as collector pieces.

EDIT: Correction there are only three seasons as of November 2020 Well, if you ever get a chance check it out, there are 4 seasons of it now. Though it does deal with crime and graphic violence so be mindful of that.

This is the official Dominator released almost 5 years ago. It is currently out of stock from the website dominator.cerevo.com/en/ (I have since updated the details info to add this website for future viewers) although it is possible they may make more since season 3 was released and a 4th season in development. My only other suggestion is eBay or Amazon but then you may not know the condition and quality of the product, or if it's an official model or not.

Transform, lights, sound, and what's not covered in the video but briefly mentioned near the end is an app game. There's a camera in the barrel so it displays the person you are pointing at on your phone with the HUD like in the anime and then can determine crime coefficient (just an RNG). It will transform if it's over 300 like an the series.

Probably seeing how much 3D print tech has advanced so much since this was first released back in 2016. Heck I've seen tutorials on how to make a transforming one out of cardboard, but no lights or sounds. You could probably 3D print it, but keep in mind you would still have to do all the electronic and programming work to do the lights, sounds, wifi, camera, and interactive features of this thing.

@@hanniffydinn6019 oh I don't doubt that. So many advances have been made in DIY electronics and 3D print in the past 5 years to make it easier, affordable, and more accessible. It is so much more common place now. I think what some people are not realizing when they see this video is that this was done almost 5 years ago when all that was less common. If you ever decide to make your own I'd love to see it or even a time lapse of you making it would be fun to watch.

Well, what can it do actually ?

So as you can see in the video it has all the lights, sounds, and transformation like it would in the anime series. There is an app that goes with this so you can adjust the settings, from light brightness and sound volume. You can also change which character it is referring to from season 1 and 2 (so it could say any of the main inspectors or enforcers from those two seasons), it can also be adjusted to generic male or female inspector. You can also adjust the setting to be unauthorized mode where it glows red and "locks". On top of that is the interactive feature with the app. There is a camera where the barrel is so if you point it at someone and have the app running, the app displays a view just like the HUD in the anime. Then there is an RNG that displays the crime coefficient of the person you are targeting and the gun will transform is the 300 threshold is met. You can also manually transform the gun as you see in the video, as opposed to the automated changes I just mentioned. These are most of the features I can recall off the top of my head, so I hope that helps. As I have stated in other comments, this is not necessarily for everyone, but this has brought me a lot of fun especially with my friends who are very into Psycho Pass as well as some of the cosplay shoots I have brought this to use for.

@@srank7953 Just so you know that this video unboxing was when they first came out in 2016. Back then it was $800. They only made a limited amount so now they go for over $1000, and only a handful are left available on the market. This does not mean go out and buy one now, but just wanted you to be aware. This is not just a purchase, but an investment of a lot of money. I guess what I am saying is I am not promoting or discouraging of buying one, but understand that it is expensive and supplies are limited.

Nope, Japanese only for the audio. Only the online eManual and phone app come in English.

It really depends. I understood that it was a lot of money for the purchase, but I had a lot of friends who were also into Psycho-Pass that cosplayed from it. So I knew that I would get a fair amount of use from it from photoshoots. I have taken it to small cosplay photoshoot gatherings where it becomes a conversation piece especially with other people who are familiar with the series. Also it is fun to play with the app that works with the gun. Where you point the gun at someone and the crime coefficient displays on a linked smart phone. Depending on what settings you have the gun it can automatically transform based on the crime coefficient. So for me, yes it was worth buying. For others it depends, it is definitely not for everyone.

You're probably looking at a special edition one, but yea they stopped making them so it doesn't surprise me that the price has gone up since. They use to be around $800 (still a lot I know) when they first came out a few years back. As to whether it's worth it to have it or not really depends. It's less of a purchase and more of an investment.

Now a days it is 1000 USD, when if first came out it was 800 USD. Does that help any? Probably not. Even though it does not actually shoot anything, it does link to an app that allows you to scan people and get their crime co-efficient. The display on your phone is similar, though not exact, as to what a user in the anime would see when using the weapon. If the co-efficient is high enough it can switch to lethal mode. There are a few features that are not mentioned in the video as it is an unboxing and so hadn't had a chance to fully learn and play with it. Hope that helps or at least explain some of it.

The official transforming one that was licensed is made by Cerevo, which is the one featured in this video. Perhaps they (Redstone) made a light-up replica? I know there are a number of companies (licensed and unlicensed) that made replicas with some that light up and others that didn't.

It is an official prop replica from the show Psycho Pass, an anime that takes place in the future set in Japan. If you are into anime of the crime solving, cyberpunk, dystopian genre this is one to check out (mind you it does deal with some gruesome topics). There are 3 seasons (with a 4th one in production from my understanding) as well as 3 movies.
