Thanks for the tip on going easy to avoid those muslces in the hand that aren't used to be used in the way a pandeiro demands. I tend to go easy when I feel that my hand is being made to move in a plane by an instrument that isn't the usual, but the reminder was really good to have! I hope to have a new skin put on my smaller 8 inch pandeiro. I got a new 10 inich panderio to replace the old one for now, but I prefer a smaller size for pandeiro, as I prefer the punchier sound that smaller drums give in general, and pandeiro is a fast playing instrument, especially with some of the styles it's involved in, and I like to have a smaller drum to accomodate that.

Great lesson! Most don’t break down the motions into slow exercises like this. This is much more helpful. Thanks!

Big thanks for this. I love starting new instruments but I hate learning them wrong or going too fast, and this video is well paced and wonderfully detailed.

Thanks for posting this! I am a beginner and had picked up a few not great habits early on. I was playing all right hand with little to no motion in the left. This video is helping me revamp my (still rudimentary) technique. Your instruction moves at a great pace--slow and clear explanations, but advancing from one step to the next pretty quickly.

Just so mellow. During the vid, I kept thinking 'this is such a great lesson, I should be paying for this'. So glad to see you have a Venmo posted. I will return to this often to keep myself on the left hand straight and narrow. How can we come out and see any of your bands in action?

Great video Amy! Thank you for this ressource. I hear your platinelas aren't so "rattly" and more like a closed hi-hat which sounds great. My new pandeiro is very open. Did you do anything to them? But thanks for the video anyways :~)
@amycadle2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I did add some filler to the platinelas, just a little round of manila folder type paper to each one

So the fingers of your left hand are touching the inside of the skin of the drum when you hold it? I understand 1:33 well?
@amycadle2 жыл бұрын
Hello! the finger will not touch the head of the drum while you are playing so that the resonance of the head is not dampened.

This is great thank you would be nice for us beginners if you would just slow it down more to show the technique and is easier to play along with you until a beginner like me gets the hang of it. Overall I love your teaching style and this video!!!

could you do a video showing how to find a reasonably priced pandeiro for a beginner (that's relatively light in weight)? my friend brought me back a Luan from brasil but got stolen (in Hollywood... on of the many thefts we have to deal with)

Where can I find a very light pandeiro under 300g
@amycadle4 жыл бұрын
good question, I would suggest either pandeiro.com, viradadrums.com, or gosamba.com. You will definitely want a capoeira or choro style with the flat metal rim.
