I am only new to the game but I don't see anyone else putting an event controller on their base (like the small turret controller) and have it liked to the drills on base to turn off when certain cargo containers are full or do most people don't like doing that or just don't do it?? I also always put one on my minner ship so I don't over mine especially when it comes to gold and not gotten far enough in game to get off planned to get uranium or platinum but sure they the game case as gold (not much at all). can also set up another event controller and link it to you solar panels and have it turn your lights on and off when sun goes up and down to save power and have a base with auto lights. I find it fun. just an after thought can set 2 event controllers and set them to your refiner to turn off when full and then turn drills and pistons back on when empty so should always be refining as long as you make sure drill still moving. also make sure if you do start the engine up or battery make sure it has enough power for the sun to move around on angle so your solar array will not smack its tiles on your base. or just do your lovely piston and merge blocks to move the whole solar array out a Lil bit... I do like than Lil trick you got going.

I was rewatching one of your old videos and noticed where your solar panels would be and if you lost power about 10 mins later you wouldn't of just lost rover it would of landed right on your base making a nice mess. might want to put some type of blocker somewhere somehow.

The max velocity to the drill pistons must be 0.2 - 0.5 to drill whit out breaking

Yea 0.3 is generally my go-to piston speed for drills. Gets nice and close to the voxels without hitting them and gets the job done pretty quick. Edit: That's for collection of course, 0.6 seems to be good for "right clicking", though when I want a nice smooth dig I'll use the menu bug to hold right click for me and set the piston to 0.1 while I go make a coffee.

Maybe you could put the hydrogen tanks underground so they are shielded by voxel!

Something I strongly recommend to make building and designing a lot easier, is the plugin loader with the block picker extension. I believe it's also available as a mod if you're not a fan of plugins. Just a little quality of life addition; you press *CTRL+G* to select a block you're looking at and it copies the block, it's rotation and it's paint. I prefer the plugin version though because it works regardless of modlist, even on Keen's official servers. I can't live without it. PS: Snapping to local grid with *B* would've made placing some of those plates a lot easier.

@@PandemicPlayground There's some super handy stuff available as plugins, definitely worth checking out what's there even if you don't end up using any of it. PS: Sorry for the double comment, KZbin said there was an error when I first posted, I've deleted the other one.

OMG, this is a prime example of how to prolong your progression and die of boredom playing... My brain hurts from watching this one... This was like watching a noob playing his very first game and learning by failing... I've watched your videos in the past when i started, you are no noob. When building, pipe first and end with cargo container at build site, you build things way faster. You spent the time carrying items to make welders, that literally could only build 1 cargo container on each side, completing half of the project... In this same time you could have completed all by hand lol, including walls and ceiling! The literal first thing you should be doing is planning out your build to NOT waste time/materials, emphasis on materials! Power and oxygen/hydro(unless on earthlike planet) should be top priorities. Power and airtight base going up immediately! On top of that, when adding 8 drills or welders, monitor your power or die. Power is the easiest problem to avoid, and you ran out of power while the sun was shining! Pipe your stuff under your base from day 1(mostly important on no oxygen starts since your initial base typically just grows and you don't move for a long time), you're wasting your time constantly redoing things for no reason. You go under base to protect them from attacks, meaning it's almost impossible to lose your connections to weapons when they're needed. Nothing like losing 1 conveyor that stops ammunition flow to weapons during an attack, because you're too lazy to dig... Why you building conveyors for welders that were all connected to drills? Total waste of time! You could have either drilled by hand or built a tiny 1 drill miner in no time to drill your perfectly flat surface(damn ocd players), that could convert into a real miner later. Instead of your half hour long strip miner build that served 1 purpose(and basically failed) to then be dismantled... You spend the time to build and demolish the entire thing, not to mention the several additions because you started way too small. Honestly, the only time building a welding platform is worthwhile is at a printing/repair bay. Either build a welding ship or do it by hand. The floor you built that thing for takes like 10 seconds (maybe) to weld per tile 😂 1 question here too, why using armor plate for floor instead of half light block? I could be wrong here, but i would think armor plate costs more here to simply be a floor in a room full of cargo so you don't even see the floor... Keep making content, just either clean them up by not making us watch you strip mine a small square just to place a floor on a smooth surface(over half that video), or plan more than 2 minutes into the future for projects as that small project turned out to be a huge hassle! Yes, I know learning from failures is great and all, but this should be far from a tutorial video.

Imagine writing a paragraph criticizing a content creator on how they create content. Watching this is a great way to help others know what not to do, in the sense that hindsight is 20/20. But going into such detail and basically telling him he wasted *your* time by posting content you find irritable is wild. If you don't like it you could always watch someone else instead.

@Gamer12666 Um last I knew criticism was to help improve, hence why I went into detail explaining some simple ways to be way more efficient... Yes, you're correct about watching some failings like having to adjust the drills and what not on more complex things. The basics like piping tho, should be shown the proper way right off the bat. If someone were to build as they watched this, they would have a tougher time piping or restart... Like I stated, I've watched his videos in the past and enjoy his content. I'm not being a hater, just trying to help the guy.

@@jrolladarksine8551 nitpicking specifics on what you think is okay to fumble with, and what *you think* should be done right the first time every time is not criticism. Constructive criticism is effective amd helpful, this was not constructive in virtually any way.

@Gamer12666 Wow ok, because actually giving ways to improve isn't constructive criticism. Not only did i criticize, but i gave information on how to improve. Nitpicking? I didn't nitpick, I just picked a few specific things I could elaborate on and go into detail... So you sit here criticizing how to criticize, who made you the criticism queen? For your information, I went into such detail so not only the creator could improve but perhaps new players might read it too. It's called teaching... If you don't want to learn, why are you here? If you do want to learn, then what is your problem? Seems to me someone is butthurt for some reason 🤔

@@jrolladarksine8551 how can you start a rant with "OMG, this is how you kill a game, my brain hurt watching that," and still claim it's constructive criticism? You basically stated that all the work he's put into the series was pointless because it could have been done better the first time. You may have brought up a few valid points, but that doesn't excuse the fact that none of that was constructive in the slightest. Just because your intentions are good doesn't mean the delivery is. People will do the opposite of the "ummm aktually 🤓" guy every single time because of how it's said. Being a know-it-all isn't helpful to anyone.
