Pandit Nayan Ghosh | Rau in Teentaal (16 beats)

Friends, I just by accident happened to view this on insistence from a disciple of mine. Thank you all for having enjoyed it. This composition is called a Rau or Rav. This composed by the son of the founder of the Lucknow Gharana. Almost all Tabla stalwarts have played it after him. Interpretations may vary. Thirakwa Khansahab, who lived 10 years at my home, played it more with the Sur stroke on Dhin and rarely the Tunn sound . Ustad Amir Hussain Khan, who was also my Dada-Guru, played it always with the Tunn sound. However, the variations are an assembly of Ustad Thirakwa, Ustad Amir Hussain Khan, my father Pandit Nikhil Ghosh and myself. This Rav is purely a Lucknow composition. There's a history how Rav came about and generated in the mind of the composer. Enjoy.

@@deepranjanghosh1851 i could hear the rau in this. Its prob because of another popular video with Pt Ji where he played this composition and it was titled as a rela and many believed it to be so. But i think (correct me if I'm wrong) relas are usally played before playing a rau.

the rela is same..but variation is little different..because thirakwa khan saheb generally used to stroke in maidan instead of the black portion..by lucknow andaz..
