Here Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma tell us on how Burman Dada showed respect towards Samata Prasad (tabla player) though Dada was much senior, how Dada went over to Shiv Kumar Sharma's house early in the morning to reward him with cash on his performance during the recording a day earlier at Famous Studios, and how Shiv Kumar himself came to play tabla in 'Guide' song 'Mose chhal kiye jaye', though he had left playing tabla many years earlier and switched over to playing santoor for which he became world famous.
Shiv Kumar Sharma ji also dwells on another well known anecdote about Burman Dada who would not share his paan with anyone.
During my research I have found out that Burman Dada's paan were made to order, different from others. In addition to that, his paans prepared by his wife Meera ji had a a peel of dried orange for added flavour. Naturally if Dada shares his paans with everyone, there would have none left for himself.

That's an interesting piece of trivia. Pandit ji played the tabla in 'Mose chhal kiye jae', one of the most iconic classical-based dance numbers in Hindi films. And how expertly he played the tabla! Absolutely amazing!

It's my no only mine but billions of music lover's wish. Thank you so much @Moti Lalwaniji. And an information for you I heard from one of my friend that Great Sachin Tendulkar's grandfather was kept the name Sachin because he was Barman Da's fan exactly I don't know weather this fact was right or wrong. Need some research. Thank you again.

@@nirmalpradhan7333 Please read here: Sachin How (Tendulkar) Got His Name God of cricket, Sachin is Mr Ramesh Tendulkar's youngest son. Eldest son Nitin works for Air India, second son Ajit, who is first guru and idol of Sachin, also worked for Air India for some time, and daughter Savita is married and stays in Pune (Savita Palekar). Mr Ramesh Tendulkar was professor of Marathi. He was a very popular teacher, and a good Marathi poet. He was a very humble and cultured man. I think Nitin has inherited his quality as poet, and has written some excellent Marathi poems. Ajit played some cricket at school, college and university level, but unfortunately could not play at Ranji or test level. Like a typical middle class Marathi family during 60s and early 70s, topics of discussion in Mr Tendulkar’s family were Marathi literature, poetry, and music. But Mr Ramesh Tendulkar was a big-big fan of S. D. Burman, and among the Hindi film music, he used to listen to mostly S. D. Burman songs. Sachin was born on 24th April 1973 in Thakur Hospital near Shivaji Park in Dada, Bombay (now Mumbai). When his mother was discharged with the baby boy and they came home, discussions were on about naming the baby boy. Finally, their father Mr Ramesh Tendulkar asked Nitin, Savita and Ajit (15, 13 and 10 years elder to Sachin respectively), “Lahaan bhawaach naav kaay thevaaycha te tumhich saanga!" (You all decide the name of your younger brother.) They all knew that their father was a big fan of Sachin Dev Burman. Unanimously, all the three shouted loudly 'Sachin Dev'. But, as Sachin Dev sounded too long a name, after discussions finally they all decided on Sachin. Today the whole world says that god of cricket is Sachin Tendulkar, but we can say, he is Sachin Tendulkar 'coz of Sachin Dev Burman. It is interesting to know that in spite of being one of the best music directors Sachinda was so innocent, humble and very nice to the people around him. Thank you Mothiji for your interview with Pandit Shiva Kumarji

@Ananda SHETTY H, I consider SD Burman to be the best as a music director, with his qualities as a good human being, as a good father and as a good husband, with many more qualities that were not present in many others. Film industry with money and its power is full of temptations, in which many others fell. Our SD Burman remained aloof, immersed in his music. Thanks for the comments.

Kalindi, Very true. I am soon going to post 85 year old sitar player JV Acharya's interview, where he has said that the musicians were all like a family to him. There was no Music Director - musicians distance between them.

Superb. Once again shows how simlpe down to earth and humble was this great man, Dada Burman. Shiv Kumar ji has accomplished an outstanding feat in Mose chhal kiye jaye, bravo. Also, we must remember that sharing personal things like paan is not done in royalty. It akins to awarding equality. Dada's upbringing restricted him from doing so. Thus when he offered someone a paan it was appreciation and reward. Just like he was not sure how to address Samta Prasad ji, and was hessitant, he was not certain that he should share his personal paan unless it seems he had to reward someone.

Peeysh Sharma ji, A brilliant explanation you have given for Dada not sharing his paan, besides what I have mentioned about his paans which could not be shared as he would run out of them.

Moti ji, I believe, it was his royalty upbringing that did not allow him to mingle too much with the film fraternity and avoid partying. Also he was thus above petty matters that film people are known for. He kept to himself and maintained his distance involved totally in his music.
