Yes, the twist comes at the end of the song. He only hurts himself, no one else. He looks in the mirror as he tells everything. This is simply a form of sadomasochism. A taboo topic. But some people need that just to find relief. The little magic trick is also not meaningless. Flake climbs into the tub in black clothes and comes out after the pain in a glitter suit.
@nyoodmono46812 жыл бұрын
But why all the other stuff? Barb wire into female organs, rodents, beating, that sounds not like self inflicting.
@TomTomson812 жыл бұрын
@@nyoodmono4681 But it is. But you can't take everything literally. This is poetry. Poetry uses winged words that sound like exaggerations. In addition, a good portion of imagination, what he would like to do with himself, if he could. Fantasies.

@nyoodmono4681 the urethra is the tube in the penis, so he isn't talking about female genitals. My interpretation is it is about himself. It is a form of sadomasochism. But also poetry, not to be taken literally.

What always surprises me is the different criteria that we apply to the perception of cinema and music: We have long been accustomed to the fact that the themes of films can be really dark and scary, even sometimes in blockbusters. But in music, due to the predominance of pop, we are so used to "safe" lyrics that many people are embarrassed when they encounter dark lyrics in songs. It seems ridiculous to me - after all, art is art.

When he sings "Ich seh’ im Spiegel dein Gesicht" " I see your face in the mirror" hints that the person he’s singing about is actually himself. Maybe this song isn’t about a sadomasochistic relationship, but is rather about self-harm.

@@PandoraPlaysMusic Rammstein makes music mainly for us, the fans...they write songs in a way that every one can interpret the lyrics for themselves. I always read in the comments something like: "...no, you´re wrong...the song is about..". And thats not the point...its about what you in person get out of it...they should say instead.."..the song means this to me..

Rammstein puts the mirror in front of us. Like Mein Teil, Bück Dich or Hallomann you can‘t love the situation of the person, but listen Rammstein singing about the sadness; the craziness and toxic masculinity it gives us a way to handle it. It is sometimes like a therapy, talking about the shit helps.

Admire your bravery for posting such an honest reaction. It was upsetting to see you upset but at the same time great to see a true thoughtfull reaction having read the lyrics and given us your interpretation of them, that seemed to ring true to me at least. Some may miss out greatly by overlooking the depth, intricacy and intention of Till's lyrics, or perhaps this is Rammstein's deliberate technique? to pull us in with great music, then to hit us with the emotional punch of the poetry later, which is how it often gets to me. I then thought - what on earth will she make of the"Zeit" video, I'm not going to suggest it! ..then I saw you had reacted to it already- so I watched it and got upset with you all over again!! .... after that I looked at your "Dicke Titten" reaction, had a giggle and felt happy once again. I am a simple male after all.

Till is always playing a role like an actor and he wants to show the point of view of the person, he is playing. In all consequence. Sometimes very serious, sometimes with a twinkle in the eye. In real life, he is a very calm person. In my opinion, Rammstein find a spectaculare mix of show and critical lyrics, which are full of metaphors or directly smashed into your face. Even for Germans, it is hard to get the whole story, instantly. If you watch the brand new album "Zeit", you see, that there are 3 completely differnt videos, but in fact, they show the same basic of "merciless time", getting old, birth and so on. You are well advised to find the mix of seriousness and the black humor in Rammstein. I will see them live in Nijmegen, Holland on 5th of July and I am very excited to see the live show. Best warm regards from Germany . Btw You´re a sympathetic person

I like these reaction. This is the first reaction of this Musikvideo i saw (and i watched many of them), that somebody talks "critical" about these hard lyrics. For my own, i really like this performence of Rammstein and the amazing and diffrent vocals of Till. I'm used to it they provoke with their lyrics, so i don't feel bad for these lyrics, too. But i think its good if you say, okay im not into it but performence and quality is good.

As a self harmer, songs like this help. As in when I feel the need to hurt myself, I try listening to these types of songs first & for some reason 9 times out of 10 it’s enough to stop me. I don’t know why? So there is a need for them, but I also understand the uncomfortableness of them to most. Mental illnesses are so complicated & confusing to everyone, even us who live with them. Great reaction though. Xx

I like that you gave the song a listen and thought about it even if the lyrics... grossed you out? Not quite sure if that is the right term but I guess you get what I mean. There are a lot of people who would just disregard the song after learning about the meaning of it. I personally love this song not because of its meaning but simply because it slaps hard. Probably even one of my favourites even if I don´t vibe with the whole sadomaso stuff.

That is pretty much exactly how I feel about it, too! When I first heard LIFAD, this was instantly my favourite track from the album, and it is still a firm favourite from the catalogue. I had no clue as to the context of the lyrics, and even though I'm not into S+M, the music just slaps.

Paraphilias, and that is what this song is about are curious and often repugnant to the majority of us. Whilst I understand the mechanics for want of a better word of this particular paraphilia I can't imagine myself in that position. I don't like pain at the best of times even though I live with it 24/7 due to medical issues I have. A paper cut drives me insane. Rammstein more often than not sing about the darker aspects of life and even without knowing what the lyrics mean you can often tell that a song has a darkness attached to it. Ich Tu Dir Weh is a contrast in that the music and the way the lyrics are sung are both at odds with the lyrical content . Flake has described the song as sounding popish with a dark set of lyrics. the performance as always is outstanding with the ongoing "battle" between Till and Flake in evidence (they're the best of friends in reality and Flake trusts Till implicitly). Paul commented once that Till picks on Flake because Flake is the weakest and till is the strongest. Flake's answer was that he objected to such slander! Till's voice is stunning throughout, the musicianship on point as ever. I could see that you were struggling as the video played and I understand your conflict.

I think the image could suggest a rebirth at the end with a shiny guy walking around awkwardly. On top of that there is the running gag that Flake (keyboard) cannot dance which they use in some videos.

Thank you for this reaction! Actually, this song is one where it's better to start with watching and do the lyrics later 😉 Your experience was heavily flawed by lyrics, I could read it from your face... And yes, your interpretation is perfect - I love this plot twist by the end! You have reacted to many Rammstein songs - but I see, that you didn't manage to do "Rammlied" yet. It is an amazing song, packed with energy like no other... pure FIRE! The best recording comes from Madison Square Garden - but I would suggest watching the recently uploaded version, search for "Rammlied 4K (Live From Madison Square Garden New York city in America)". In contrast to official video, this version includes also the band's introduction - and yes, it's worth seeing, since it was the most epic through their whole career! 😁 Enjoy! And have a great day! 😊

No need to be shocked... BDSM is pretty common in Germany and not illegal at all (as long as it´s safe, sane & consensual). There is this saying: A sadist is a person that is very nice to a masochist. But I believe Till isn´t in BDSM himself, for some parts of the lyrics are quite out of touch with reality, even in terms of those who like it really rough. I like this song because of the pop music like melody and the unreal harsh contents 😆

Rammstein doesn't have a single gloomy text, and if you want to fix it, then there's no point, it's creative, art, well, it's difficult to be yourself nowadays, Who Til Lindemann is, spits on all the frames, in a legitimate sense...sometimes in an illegal way, again within the framework of creativity, but for Thiel, as many have realized, creativity has no boundaries.

But it seems to be about sadism and mosochism, i can agree that it is too ugly. Well they go all the way when they confront mindsets at the brink of the abyss.
