Several creepy events occurred and they got such a bad feeling from the upstairs in general that they never went up there, going as far as to put a blanket up over the doorway to avoid having to look up the stairs. Grew up around there in the 00s - never actually heard the details! Common wisdom in the area was that it had probably been a cop/impersonator, so we were still to never pull over on the parkway at night if a cop/fed lit you up. Hazards on, 25mph, cruise until you get off the parkway and pull over in a lit parking lot. Never had to test, but I heard it from so many people once I started driving that I have to assume even the parkway police knew people would do it.
