I don't want to be harsh, but the host needs to learn how to moderate a little better, or stick to editing. If you're sharing the stage with people, especially comedians of this caliber, don't try and compete with them. It didn't work when Johnny Carson tried to do it, and it didn't work this time. A couple of times it was positively cringe worthy. It also felt like the host wasn't really listening to what the guests were saying, when they were talking he would frequently be looking at the crowd, or his papers. Was it really necessary to call out and introduce everyone in the crowd? Stick to the content that people are interested in. That whole part about bringing up the energy exec's pizza history and his gay son was just unnecessary and made everyone clearly uncomfortable.
@dianekyrus10089 жыл бұрын
+countz3r0 Oh my god, I so totally agree with you. Both of the interviewers were atrocious, really, but the man was the WORST! They were completely clueless and off base about the whole concept of the Documentary Now series, and when the panel (especially Bill Hader) refused to give them a pass about their wrongheadedness, they actually got huffy and dug themselves in deeper. I'll give 'em this much: It was one of the most compelling train wrecks of an interview I've ever seen. And someone should give Bill Hader an award for brilliant fearlessness!

I was going to stop watching this until I read the comments and now I need to see what happens. First impressions: this male moderator should never be allowed to moderate for comedians, especially these guys. Any panel Bill Hader is ever on derails immediately and that’s part of his charm. Comedians riff, that’s their entire thing. Watch Bill’s 92Y interview with John Mulaney, or the Documentary Now one done there, for a better example of how to moderate for guests like these. I know this is years old now, but I keep seeing interviews even recently with people who don’t know how to adapt and interview/moderate in the best style for each guest, and it demonstrates a lack of respect for the guests and a lack of concern for the quality of the audience experience. So yeah I hope this guy isn’t still doing this today.

‘Would you guys ever consider doing something along the lines of Star Wars?’ This is a MOCK-umentry. Who are these people and where did they get their audience? It’s overflow from a Bob Lazer interview, isn’t it? 🤦🏻♀️
