this video cost me a lot of my sunday. yt age restricted my first two attempts to uplad this video. maybe the algorithm was triggered by my teacup :P ... I submitted an appeal to drop the restriction and at the same time I removed the intro with the magazines, because I thought that's maybe what could cause some offense (even though I thought: WHY?). But after uploading the truncated version the original video (the one that you can see here) suddenly was approved as okay... so I really really hope it will stay that way.

Between Jose Gonzalez and Fernando Fernandez, the female form found its masters. Vampirella Magazine enchanted and frustrated so many adolescents at the time. It had the best artists. They understood the female body, it's undercurrents, and fathomless possibilities. Beautiful work.

@@earlgrey862 I think I'm contractually obligated. Apparently youtube was frustrated too and age restricted your video. I'm surprised. Good to know for in the future, since at one point while reading some Fernandez stories i thought about showing them on youtube without an age restriction. I blame the return of Saga. It's the only reasonable explanation. BKV's forces are Legion!

I wonder how this algorithm works. This was the third time sth like this happened on my channel and each time they have withdrawn the ban after a while. The two times before (Akira and Carapaces (one comic by Schuiten)) it was just ridiculous... with Vampi it was the proof that she's still able to stir some blood after all these years ;)

Such stunning artwork. The covers is allways a highlight of Vampirella. Very nice video 👍❤️

yes, the covers are very nice... most of them were done by one Enric - there's a new hardback collecting his artwork for Vampirella, I believe

I live in Australia and Vampirella, Creepy and Eerie were never released in this country...back in the 1970s. I knew about them...but only Warren's Monster's of Filmland released here. So now...50 years later I just purchased the whole 15 volumes of Vampirella HC Dynamite from UK. Oh my God!! The artwork is unbelievable! Jose Gonzales caught my eye immediately. Spanish I see. The European artist are of a standard par excellence. Thanks for this vid. Will be looking into the lives of these artists over coming weeks.👁💎👁

As soon as you see the carpet pattern you know it will be a special panellogy. These artist editions are great!

I really love the Spanish influence on this era of Warren. If you've seen the book on Gonzalez that Dynamite turned out, you know he's done some beautiful stories in pencil. He apparently was a child prodigy who never grew up, and as a result his life ended badly. There's a documentary serialized here on KZbin and here is the link to the first part: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5mYpKRund18qMU

Oh man, i also do remember reading these in my early teens and onward and really loved the art (and stories too..) The erotic element was, obviously, a major factor on attracting novel an experienced readers alike but it was never explicit or of bad taste, quite the opposite. In my country Vampirella was published on its own title with cover and inside short stories magnificently drawn by local artist Carlos Alberto.
@earlgrey8622 жыл бұрын
hmm, sorry to ask, because maybe I should know: but where are you from? And the magazines I've shown were actually published by the German publisher Volksverlag... the same one that published the German Heavy Metal called Schwermetall
@rewanji2 жыл бұрын
@@earlgrey862 Sure I’m A portuguese follower. You know, these titles actually were meant to be resseled to a more mature audience but they were available, often on 2nd hand, to everyone looking to read slightly mature subjects than the average adventure comic magazine. Cheers…

same over here... the Volksverlag magazines subtitled "for adult vampires"... but they were sold to everyone who was at least big enough to be able to look over the cash desk

Truly beautiful artist edition. Just out of curiosity, I went and looked for what Dynamite has been putting out recently in the current Vampirella comics, and the art in them is SO bad. The drawings are standard, run-of-the-mill comics-style, but the coloring is truly atrocious. Maybe all of the good artists are doing Marvel books these days?

@@earlgrey862 Well, sure, there are great comic book artists out there and not just under the Marvel umbrella, but it's frustrating seeing what Vampirella art once was and what it is now. And like I said, the coloring is particularly bad. I think Vampi comics would look better if they just used shades of gray + red.

I have this book, for me it was a disappointment as an artist edition in that the black levels seemed to have been adjusted, resulting in an artist edition that didn’t really give a sense of looking at the original pages.

yes, as I tried to explain in an earlier comment: there were lots of shenanigans with youtube's algorithm. the vid was age-restricted... I complained & tried to re-upload with a different thumbnail (just to probe the algorithm) which failed... then I deleted the intro (with the old vampi mags) and uploaded that one .... and that truncated version passed, but now the first and longer (this!) version passed as well.... and while all this to and fro the sun moved through the beautiful sunday sky and wondered what are these puny humans do with their short lifespans :P
