I'd like to say, Cuphead is a lot of fun, but it is tough - at least until you learn boss patterns, then it becomes somewhat easier. The difficulty and love put into the game makes it definitely worth playing through to the end.

Given death in Cuphead gives you a lot of practice at the early stage of a boss fight, it makes sense for the later stages to be easier since you have to work to even get a shot at them.

Regarding the last survival level, I have no idea if it is close to Cup Head. But the idea of putting the harder challenge before the later challenges is actually really sound. It goes like this: You get the least amount of downtime before you can repeat the hard part meaning that you can retry it faster and therefore learn it faster. Secondly the later parts borrow some of the tension from the previous harder parts simply from being after the hard part since you don't want to mess up the easy part to repeat the hard part (aka tension) This is only really true when there isn't any check points, so in a way it is a reversal of what Panga has dubbed the 'formular', that is only true for oneshot / no checkpoint maps! I and a lot of others found this out during a Trackmania competition called Deep Dip 2, where it was this really long one shot tower climb (similar to getting over it / Only up except with a race car instead of a more reasonable avatar for climbing upwards. Deep Dip 2 really could have benefittet from having a lot of the harder challenges earlier than they ended up being since it took so long to climb up to a challenge only to fail 1-2 jumps after getting there due to the difficulty.

Imagine if one of those “avoid the power-ups” levels put a dev power up at the end to let you bypass the power-up check A star or shellmet would let you crouch jump through the spikes without them damaging you, and the Link suit is small enough to fit through normally (the same WAS true for the mystery mushroom, RIP)

Chef salt baker is the final boss for cup heads dlc. So yes, he is indeed very difficult. Mostly due to his egregious amount of phases.
