Para pecinta gamelan semua, jangan kuatir. Tonton dan unduh lebih dari 280 video di akun youtube saya (sanggar dwija laras SMPN 6 Kediri). Hampir semua dimainkan secara langsung oleh siswa-siswi SMPN 6 Kota Kediri. Berbagai jenis gending mulai dari yang sederhana (lancaran, langgam), hingga yang kompleks seperti Palaran (Pucung, Pangkur, Gambuh, Megatruh, Kinanti, Asmaradana, dll), Ladrang (Wilujeng, Asmaradana, Pareanom, Nuswantara, Wohing Aren, dll), Ketawang (Subakastawa, Puspawarna, Ibu pertiwi, Juru Demung, dll), hingga Jineman (Mijil Ketoprak, Mijil Nyamat, Sinom Nyamat, Tulis Kresna, Gathik Glinding, dll). Juga ada proses penggarapan karya tari dan pedalangan. Kita masih punya generasi muda - generasi muda yang peduli dan suka musik tradisi. Bahkan angkatan yang terbaru ( kelas 7 TP. 2014/2015), dari sekitar 100 anak peserta / anggota sanggar, kami dapat mnyeleksi sekitar 40 anak anggota inti yang mahir bermain karawitan maupun sindenan. Viva Musik tradisi.

I had a bash at gamelan years ago, and I was amazed how easy it was. About ten of us did an afternoon workshop, and with the tutors guidance, we were making a pretty convincing impression of music. It was brilliant, I think thats what the drummer is high on. He's just lost in it. Theyre like several small universes , each alone, but closeby. I get a proper infinite feeling from it, like looking at the stars, but then, I'm high too, lol.

Halo Weni kartika, it is not ONLY for the rich, neither expensive. Depending what venue, institution you are thinking to study from. For a start, you can just "turn up" at their rehearsals, listen to it, sit down together in between the players (sila, squat with folded knees). You can bring along biscuit for the players and Master to have nibble during a break (or have a taste of Indonesian's cup a tea. No it is not expensive. Enjoy gamelan (javanese enjoying it for thousand years or so)

Hi Jordan, the one that opens the song, played with two hands is 'gender', then 'kendang' (drum), also played with two hands, next to kendang is 'siter' (also played with two hands).

At 1:50, played by female player, is 'slenthem'. To the left of slenthem, made from wood bars, is 'gambang', This is a small group of gamelan, which is called 'cokekan'. Complete set of gamelan should be constituted of about 10 or more different instruments, and some singers.

Weni Kartika Anyone can studying gamelan, but owning a set of gamelan is a prestige. Schools and art center are able to spend money for it, but indivual person that have one set of gamelan are actually rich.
