I absolutely understand you, I am freaked out of flying out of my mind. But I live in goddamn Germany and my family in Brazil. I have to fly also 12 hours often and the only way I can do it is if I drink a whole bottle of Jägermeister and pass out. Last time I fly there was with my brother for our grandfather funeral... We were in the middle of the Atlantic on night time and woke up to insane turbulence that lasted at least 3 hours no stop. I was panicking out of my mind and hanging by a tread the whole time. It was hell, so much that my brother has flying nightmares till now (and blames me for his new achieved flying terror even though I don't make the turbulence unless if with the telepathic power of my panic) . Every time I fly I hate every second of it. I only do it because I love my family.

That was the flight attendant's fault 100 percent, as a flight attendant you CANNOT do anything other than assure passengers that nothing is wrong or out of place. The flight attendant should have just said 'I generally go by what the captain says. And if he says nothing is wrong then i have no worries.' Fucking legendary story though, sad we're not getting his commentary. Shit was going to be awesome. Also LAX is a fucking huge airport and there are thousands of flights leaving and coming in every day. the ATC's probably had them way at the back of their priority list for clearance to take off. They may have been ready but ATC kept them holding because a shit ton of flights were ahead of them.
