Awesome! I must try this! Will this keep the better dynamic range of the C-LOG format (10 bit?) or will it be downsampled to be more like "normal" footage, just with less contrast?

Hey Martin, sorry for the late reply. I'm not the best person to answer this, as video isn't quite my area. I'm doing more on photos, and almost zero with videos for my work. I am only learning on the video bits right now.

Free davinci can't play 10 bit video. You need to buy full studio. It will play anything 8 bit but canon clog is 10 bit.

Yeah, I have been trying to find a get that working, only to learn that this is the case. We'll need a paid version to edit the 10-bit files. Thanks for the feedback.

To me, what's worse is that I have Resolve 18 on both my Windows and MacOS machine, guess what, the CLOG 3 files open in the Mac no problem, in the free version of Resolve. This is making me want to sell this Windows PC and get my hands on a Mac Mini paired with my displays, since the MacBook belongs to the company i work for.

Yup, unfortunately, Windows doesn't seem to support HEVC natively, and that's probably why it has difficulties handling 10-bit file in Davinci Resolve FREE version. I was told the Studio or paid edition won't have such problem. Maybe I should buy the software next time, if I really need it.

@@allenang ahh I went for a more drastic solution, got my computer for sale and as soon as it's gone I'll get me a Mac Mini M2 Pro.

Indeed, it is drastic! I'm pretty sure the paid Davinci Resolve cost much lesser than a Mac Mini M2 Pro.. But I'm sure the Mac Mini M2 Pro is a great machine.
