🇦🇺🦘🦘 My deaf, abused rescue GD on our 1st walk took off towards main roads (I couldn't hold him). He was months old. I made myself look happy, welcoming and knelt down, arms wide. Thankfully he stopped, saw and came flying back! Such a relief and we both learned something. He was a quick learner and much loved.

I'm with you buddy. The highly controlled production staff slipped up and let the lack of MAGIC show through in this video. In dog training, there is an ugly middle.... when the dog escaped the fence... he let the dog SUCCEED with his bad behavior. I'm not saying that he is a bad dog trainer. I'm saying that he is NOT a dog WHISPERER.... like MAGIC.... like Dr. Doolittle. There is nothing about true dog training that is Magic as his show tries to pretend that Cesar does. I believe that there are literally THOUSANDS of balanced dog trainers that can do what Cesar does, and many that can do it BETTER. Applause to him that he was able to secure a TV contract. Congratulations!! I'm happy for him. BUT, that in no way, means that he is RARE as a dog trainer. If you want exceptional results for problems with your dog... just seek out an average balanced dog trainer.

Tip from a dog walker, all dogs can get out of a harness if they want to! Also, harnesses encourage pulling
@glowindark642 күн бұрын
Like 90% of the others in my area walk their dogs on the harness. Its so bizarre. Maybe thats why people seem to walk their dogs like twice a season. Me and my old boy walk and run so much even at his age.
@SpaceCliffie2 күн бұрын
I see almost everyone with a harness now. It’s sad, and usually (nearly always) they are terrible leash pullers! Retractable leashes don’t help either. We used just a basic choke chain with our Doberman and it was more than adequate.
@caobita2 күн бұрын
Exactly. I have a harness for my dog, but only use it while travelling in a car. For walks I use a simple leather collar on her and the foster dog has her martingale collar
@IcicleFerret2 күн бұрын
Many years ago my younger self wanted to adopt a dog, but the rescue required all adopters to sign a commitment saying they would not use collars, only harnesses or head halters. I was so mad. I ended up not using that resuce, but the sad truth is so many people who don't know better are going to adopt from places like that and think they are compassionate and everyone else is cruel.
@delivertus4romnesha328Күн бұрын
I have a small pup prone to traceal collapse so I use a harness to avoid her neck. But yes you are right. They can get out if they want to. When I first brought her home she got out of so many of them. Now that she is pass her 333 she allows it stay on for walks 😂😂

I like how you explained everything to Wendy (the young woman?) and encouraged her. You usually explain things better to the younger ones than us older ones. It's more helpful for me to hear the explanations that you give the younger ones. It makes more sense, in my opinion. We moved many years ago for just a few years and had to adapt to everything that entails: new environment, new people, new situations, etc. My mantra for to my kids about our dog was what I learned from you forever ago: a tired dog is a happy dog, a happy dog is a good dog. That conquered more than half of his adjustment issues to that new place and was very helpful in the next place we lived as well. Thank you. You do more for us humans than you think.

Dear Cesar, it just so happened less than 5 minutes ago I told my husband to let me know when he was going to start using a hand staple gun. I told my dog Kiwi to go inside because I know she does not like the sound and will jump our fence. She went potty, I thought she was going to come back to come inside, but instead she hopped no sooner than I said it. I’m so glad that I came across this video so I can start working on her behavior. Aside from this she is a wonderful dog. My son rescued her from a very large ditch that is one block away from our home. She was trying to cling onto a board because it had a lot of water in it. He was able to get in and pull her out. I have a feeling that this is the root of the cause. I can leave the gate door wide open and Kiwi nor Juno will walk out if I am there to redirect them. Without fail, after watching your videos I have been very successful training my dogs. ❤. With all that said, I also have a Blue Heeler mix who loves to take walks, but for some reason she always gets very nervous when we put her harness on. Juno has never been traumatized because we have had her from the day she turned 6 weeks old. I’ve tried everything possible to get her to trust the harness. Once we do get it on her, she starts shivering and she freezes up for a minute and will begin walking. I have always put her on the harness because she has pulled out of her collar before. My fear is that she will not find her way home and get hurt or lost. Kiwi on the other hand does come back after she’s been out. We will also bring her back in as soon as she gets out. I would love and appreciate it if you have any videos that can teach me how to get Juno how not to be afraid of her harness. ❤

I had a rescue like Ivy who could get out of anything. When we would get home from work, we would have messages from neighbors, he could open windows, and doors, climb like a monkey, and he finally did get hit by a car. He healed from the car but never stopped trying to escape. We would take him on very long off-leash runs every day, swimming, everything trying to make him so tired he would not want to escape, but until he was 13, he never stopped. We loved him dearly, but he was a chore for the family.

They felt what the dog went through by holding the snakes and arachnids. They had to face their fears to understand what the dog felt all those years, but way worse. They all did a great job with the dog. Their unity is what is helping that dog living the best days of her life! As for the snakes and arachnids: If he would have said that to me, I would be .. ok, cool! Let's go! And to the man owning the pets: Dude, I love you! And naming a snake Banana is so funny. Cute pets, snakes. Love them a lot!

This proves my point: dogs don’t just live “in the moment.” If a dog has been abused, it carries that abuse with them psychologically for the rest of its’ life. I realize this episode was taped a long time ago, but I wish we could know how Ivy fared.
@BMarie774Күн бұрын
Trauma is chemical. It doesn’t necessarily have to be like how we perceive trauma, the dogs may not actually remember the actual trauma. But their brains had made a chemical imprint to the stimuli. Meaning when that or a similar stimuli happens, the brain reacts again and again and again.

They just don't like it period. Why force them to have to overcome it? It's not necessary. Maybe it's a physical thing. Maybe their ears are super sensative?
