Just to say this here, im following this guide, but im no rookie to game optimizations at all, and i must say, about half of these, can be classified, as redundant or negligible "optimizations" and i feel there only included to increase the length and depth of the video. For example, the 12:40 section of this video, is telling Rust to use your dedicated GPU instead of your built in one, if your pc even has a built in one, this is entirely redundant and only perceived as helpful by the genuinely ignorant to these settings. Rust is capable of determining which GPU to use based on which is more powerful, just like 99% of modern games. That settings does just that, does not put it into "high performance mode" or anything, its simply just an input for user preference to use one over the other. Yet the section of the video is labeled "GPU settings drastically improve fps!" Which is bit of a joke, and has me question the integrity of the rest of the tweaks, this is clearly quantity over quality, and im not just taking the time to write this for the sake of it, i am using low hanging fruit as an example, forgive me for not auditing the entire video.

To those of you who are struggling with the load times after this I have the solution. To get rid of the slow load times you uninstall and then reinstall the game, It will load like normal but will be unoptimized. After that you only apply the optimizations in the folder and nothing else. If you did everything you should load into your game normally and then you should have an extra 40~ frames!

It's probably that people have re-entered servers for the first time. Rust drastically increases the speed of the loading time if you've previously entered the server before, so I guess that these optimisations just reset Rust's saved data and has to redo it for the first time again since everything has literally been optimised from the ground up

for those of you who are less informed with troubleshooting and fixing pc's: use guides like this at your own risk, and avoid messing around in the registry unless you know WHAT you are trying to edit, and WHY! Many of the things shown here can hurt your frames (possibly even your PC) more than help. Not to mention the redundancy or misinforming tips.. the best and only way to really optimize a game would be knowing your hardware, understanding how it interacts with the game engine, and THEN make small tweaks here and there to observe what is beneficial and what is not.

If you’re running at higher graphics settings your device which rust is stored on needs to load more detailed assets, if you’re using an HDD for rust that is why your loading times suck.

That is not true buddy, rust only becomes CPU heavy if the GPU is not doing much, if you run lower graphics settings even if your GPU can handle more a lot of that work gets put onto the CPU, a way to fix this is by playing with a higher resolution or graphics settings, also calling someone “buddy” when they are obviously older than you is fucking hilarious, you gave me a good chuckle.

The game lags at bandit/outpost on any computer, its just that the two locations are quite demanding. If you know what's going on in this guide then be my guest but if you're just blindly following this guide then I suggest not. Some of the optimisations in here may actually worsen your PC overall, not only in rust, but also in other games and activities. 90-100fps is already good, I have a laptop with a R7 4800H, RTX2060M, 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 and I get 75-90fps on medium settings and resolution. I'm pretty happy with this but I'd like a couple extra frames. I'm only going to follow the steps in this tutorial that I know will positively impact my FPS, otherwise it's a big no-no
