Regarding how universities as no longer welcoming to ideas that are against the narrative is just a symptom of a much larger issue.. that our institutions have become platforms for culture-war expression.. on the Honestly podcast, Yuval Levin suggests people are no longer connected with each other due to the collapse of social structures that organize/form/shape us around a common purpose.
