PANORAMA: How VIPs motorists in Kampala set a bad example

Uganda’s road carnage continues to soar to staggering figures and it is estimated that about 12 people are dying on average each day, according to police statistics.
But there are fears that the errant behaviour is largely a replica of the indisciplined driving by VIPs in Kampala many of whom are not entitled to a right of way, which now trickles down to other motorists.

All those officers everyday they travel outside Uganda, when you reach there, do you find chaotic City like Kampala? Why don't you learn from others even from your neighbor's country's?👏🤔🤷

In ug,every westerner is a VIP and they use the road with lots of disregard for others,I've personally had an encounter with one on Entebbe Road who wanted me to swerve off the road and I vehemently refused. Go to the road and check out all those vehicles registered under UC,you'll see the impunity they exhibit.

There are motorcycles with trailer horns, and most of the motorcycles that have unruly riders belong to policemen. Some policemen ride them as bodaboda after work. Most motorcycles without necessaries belong to policemen. They have protection in breaking the law. Bribes as well contribute to road accidents. Law-breaking drivers bribe their way to accidents. A secret force would be initiated to tame the vice.

Police and Government officials giving execuses instead of solutions and promising to do their jobs to stop this misbehaivors. Now as for security escorts can we all agree no assassination attempts have ever been done to people stack in traffic but only done in secluded areas. So this reverse stupidity should help them understand for better security best stay in traffic than on clear roads
