It's the police and the press who love to give those gangs names nobody over ten gives their gang a name they just refer to them as the firm or the chaps likewise they love to give individuals nicknames like characters o ut of the Sopranos if two men let's call them John Smith and Bill Jones see each other every day and become suspects in a crime the police in evidence will make a big thing that John"smithy" Smith met Bill"jonesy" Jones in the red lion. This sounds much more dramatic than John Smith and William Jones both drank in the same pub I've known Fred Foreman for fifty years I never heard anyone refer to him as the "mean machine" every one in the area I grew up in knew who the Richardsons were but no-one called them "the torture gang" until the press gave them this name. But i will say shows like top boy dont help at all and kids now think thats what life is 1 big ep of top boy and its not... They need to pick a side and if u run around in gangs dealing drugs with guns and hate police then stick to that side and wen u get shot dont ring the police that u ment to hate.... The public needs to pick a side too and if u against gangs outside ur home dealing drugs then stay on that side and stop giving gang members send off's like they was a dictor or a teacher... Duggan and flloyd was gang members not angels but the world went mad shame u cant find these peeps when baby p was sadly killed they was all to busy then...
