As it says in the documentary, Anastasia was Costello's strong ally so Genovese approached Anastasia's underboss Carlo Gambino and together they had him whacked first.. Gambino took over Anastasia family wich became Gambino crime family and Genovese took over Costello's family wich became Genovese family.. Maybe Trafficante was also involved in Anastasia hit but Genovese and Gambino were behind it.. Costello later got his revenge on Vito by framing him for drugs and Genovese got life sentence and later died in prison..
