My daughter is 17, and is Severely Autistic and nonverbal. She has always had rituals that come with Autism, and gone through stages where she had a lot of anxiety (screaming, yelling, biting herself, etc..). Last Fall (September), something was different. The rituals became incredibly long and frequent. It got to the point where everything was a ritual, and it interfered with her daily life. She has had Strep more than a few times in the past. I have finally convinced her doctors that we need to have her evaluated for PANDAS (maybe PANS), and I hope that will happen within the next 2 months. One big question I have is how could we know what day, or even what week this began...since she already had a lot of rituals and is nonverbal? She does have a lot of the symptoms, mainly the extreme OCD, short term memory loss, depression at times, far worse sound sensitivity and loud vocal tics. In the past, she seemed to enjoy some of her rituals ...but with the current OCD, she seems stuck, as if it is controlling her.

It’s not necessarily important what day they started if you know it’s PANDAS, but more important to get the proper treatment in place ASAP.

I brought my son to a neurologist to try to figure out what was going on...the doctor spent 5 minutes with him and said "he's fine I don't know why you brought him here" it was awful. I havent been able to get any help. Its been 3 years now.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Don't give up! Your son needs you as his advocate. Keep watching - I hope you're find some helpful information to help your son.
