Generally, I am not a fan of metal. I prefer punk and classic rock. Bought this shit on cassette for like 5 bucks in like 1997. That first song hit so hard, I was hooked. Great album. Vulgar Display of Power on equal footing. If it were all this good, I would love metal.
@theotherdave514 Жыл бұрын
@Elijah Boyd Thankfully I've never even heard of any of those besides Linkin Park...who I definitely agree...I don't even think about groups like that BECAUSE they're so corporate. Although lately I give Linkin a pass on a lot of my past judgment because of what C.B. was trying to bring light to at the end of his road. But, yeah, I concede a bit of my point....but STILL...compared to Pantera, SOAD sounds like Greenday to me...😆

The first 4 tracks of this album are perfection . . . Far beyond what most Metal bands achieve in their entire career. The perfect blend of heavy and catchy. Vinnie's double-bass drum work on Becoming is insanely masterful. Then you have Slaughtered which has to be one of the most brutal metal tracks ever recorded yet somehow it is still groovy. As you get to the deeper cuts, it never lets up. Some of the most epic guitar work comes in Throes of Rejection . . . Dammit, Dimebag was a metal god, on par with his idol, EVH.

They are crazy groovy in ways that no other rock or metal band seems to be. I don't even know how to root this sound, which is not surprising given that I lack basic terms to begin describing it. Unique in so many ways. - The founder of Dynamo Festival Eindhoven released a number of live recordings from over the years. Pantera were his top favourite of them all. He described the band as "one tight beast" which is cool wording. A beast. Yes. Btw, I was present at the gig, and remember Dimebag playing a solo while his roadie lifted a bottle of bourbon to his mouth ... he may have been a little less tight afterwards, but I'm not sure :)

The school bus, 6th grade. My girlfriend let me borrow her brothers CD. The opening track changed me, forever! I had never heard anything like that! Down into beherit, gorguts, severe torture... It all started with a walk man, a rural route and strength beyond strength!!! 🤯

Thank you. -- 12:31 I'm Broklen (there is an extra ' l') - 36:50 Shredding Skin (there is an extra 'r') -- (I was not able to send this message through the forms, so I posted here. I love this album, it still sounds powerful and crushing, I love the experimentation in some songs. I bought it on cassette and CD in mid-1994 and still have them. How did time pass so quickly? This record turns 30 years today, March 22, 2024.

This was my first Pantera album, and by far my favorite. I've gone back from 1983 and to 2003, and love it all, but man oh man can I listen to this album on repeat forever.

The production on this record is so f****** sweet. I love the snare drum I know it sounds similar but there's some frequency between 800 and 12 I feel they died in that just gave it such a low meaty pop that drives the songs along even more brutal. Pantera really was the perfect metal band still is no matter how much time passes
