I have been trying to achieve this effect for a while now and I could never get the Torn Edges filter to look right. What I found was, for the longest time I was creating my files as 150dpi and in your video you create your canvas at 72dpi. Once I changed that, the Torn Effect works perfectly. Why is that?

Change your your foreground/ background colors so the black is on top and white is on bottom.

thank you for your video. For some reason, Torn Edges flips black and white but in your tutorial it doesn't....

Yes because your on white and black instead vice versa on your foreground/ background colors.
