Thanks for doing this, but I think using the verb "debate" here is a bit of a stretch. Considered getting your cohost to lay off the cannabis edibles before recording? Why not try out a kind of dialogue, Socratic method, dialectic, something along those lines? It's much harder to write, but it's the difference between 30K subscribers and 300K. At some point this approach is not novel enough and you will reach a hard cap in terms of your ability to influence the world for good.

To follow up on this, I hadn't yet gotten to the bit where the other bloke starts talking, presuming you'd talk the entire time rather than going raspy-voiced for long periods. Hmm. I'd say you just need to work them together a bit more in that case, like a conversation rather than a lecture. Good luck, and thanks!

Cosmic panpsychism and monism is the principle of Hindu Vedanta philosophical texts Upanishads and Brahma Sutra. God is not separate in Awaita Vedanta, which is ancient Hindu philosophy. Spinoza might have read the translation of these texts. Spinoza's Ethics reads almost like a Vedantic text.

Yes, I would further that a pantheist acknowledges the potential and wonder of the universe. And in fact a thing worthy of celebration and awe, a spiritual totality within nature . An atheist feels put upon to a large degree by a hostile universe, somewhat trapped by thoughts of division rather than connection , and often nihilistic compulsions.

@@typicallymoody I'm not sure I understand your point. I would think denying the existence of a theistic god, in itself is part of Pantheism. In the understanding of the word anyway. I will always, in my personal consciousness refer to a Unity, as the inherent understanding of the word God personifies something we could never comprehend. While there are no specific religious rituals relating to Pantheism, there are avenues some take to bring deeper awareness of the Universe. But that can range from the study of science, different philosophies or religions, meditation, or even drug use. Spirituality itself can simply be seen as the energy that flows through us all or as far as a conscious design that lays out the path we walk.

I was an Atheist most of my life, then Agnostic and now a Pantheist. Although the similarities between Atheism & Pantheism are large, I'd argue that the same amount of similarities can be found when comparing Pantheism to any other religious or spiritual belief. And that switching from "God doesn't exist" to "God is everything" is a HUGE psychological leap. As an Atheist, I refused the idea of a spirit, divinity or anything "magical". It could all be explained through science & evolution eventually. Now as a Pantheist I believe there's an almost infinite amount of spirits, divinity is all around me & magical is the only word I could use to describe a conscious Universe and my small part in it. So although the word God is the only thing that separates Atheism & Pantheism linguistically, I believe that one word or belief is what puts Atheism & Pantheism at opposing ends of the spectrum. Atheism being at the bottom with no spiritual beliefs at all & Pantheism at the very top encompassing all spiritual beliefs. I'd like to add and debate that Pantheism is the only decentralized belief. Thanks for video guys! Absolutely brilliant!

As a (scientific) pantheist, thank you for this respectful take. When one thinks about God as separate from the creation, it is impossible to fully appreciate the vast and completeness of the creation. If it is two separate things, than God must be far greater (which is still possible with pantheism), and the creation insignificant in comparison. If God is separate, than God is limited, smaller than what could be. But when it is realized that the creation is equal to and combined, it offers an aspect that each is great. And, as individuals, our greatest praise must be to fully appreciate and try to understand the creation as a whole. And our greatest worship, is to participate as part of the creation. Through works that improve (such as thought, exploration, art) and through caring for the creation and it's parts (such as eachother)

We all have desires thoughts ideas...well and good. Nobody can deny that. 2. We are guided by these feelings. 3. If we are conscious and compare different course of actions rationally having due regard to the universal causal links of events , then we are more likely to sift through the competing desires/ideas in order to reach the one among them, which is self-willed. So we have free will. 4. However, if we take things as they come and show reactions to them without taking cognizance of that cause-effect chains behind it, then one could say we are just given to our desires. We have no free will then. We are no less than a madman.

9:00 I saw this during an acid trip where I connected to what I call ‘source energy’. I was looking at a tree and I ‘saw’ a gold filament connected in an infinite web connecting to everything around me. The intensity and thickness of the gold thread that connected each object varies depending on the object. Animals and birds had thicker threads than trees. Tree threads were thicker than those connected to rocks. And all man made objects - a plastic bin/cup etc has an even fainter thread. But absolutely everything was connected. Nothing was separate. My mind was using this image to convey to me the concept that I at the very least sub consciously believe. Everything was one, the universe was all connected and it all connected to me. During that trip I experienced the universe and everything and nothing all at the same time. It was an experience outside of time and space, that my mind could access - i visualised an accordion file containing universes that conveyed to me the idea that there are multiple realities stacked against each other, in a very organised manner. And that there was a thin layer or membrane separating them all. The folder was immensely thick and conveyed to me that the universe files away every single permutation and combination of options for every event. Each of these universes or timelines exists and doesn’t in a way - I suppose like Schrödinger’s cat. There was the everything and the nothing. And we in our file can only see and access what is here and accessible to us in these three dimensional physical bodies. We have a physical limit that prevents us from crossing over and knowing the other universes but our minds can traverse this ‘place’. that brings me to why I consider what I saw a belief and not truth. None of us will ever truly know the answer to if there is a god or not. And that seems to be the point. The visual of the accordion indicated to me the idea that the greater consciousness or source code is taking backups of everything, because it itself isn’t sure which is the best way to ‘evolve’ like this is some program running out every probability and once we play out the entire sequence, the system reboots and the entire process begins again. I sensed that I, we all, have done this infinite times. I felt a sense of ‘here we go again’ and familiarity with everything around me. I saw time as currents, not as a line like we experience it in our physical form or even as a simple cycle. It was wavy, curved, like how the water cycle is a cycle but there are so many ways that water moves through the process. I sensed that what my mind was experiencing- what I called the everywhen and the nowhere - that this was something replicated inside black holes. I experienced synesthesia where sound light and colour were intermingled. I could hear the music of sunlight as it filtered through the leaves. I could ‘see’ the light and colour from the speaker playing music as it came to my ears. I say ‘see’ because I was not seeing these things with my eyes, but with in my mind. I experienced ‘tessellation’ where I saw the membrane between ours and another universe blur and shimmer like a mirage. There was so much more, it’s so hard to explain everything I experienced at that time in a KZbin comment, but truly it was a divine, spiritual experience that touched my heart deeply. All of these things were all random passing thoughts and ideas I had had prior in life, but the effect of the lsd was to help me clearly visualise what was deep in my mind and heart - and enabled me to understand how I view myself in the grand scale of the universe and understand my place in it. I came out of this experience feeling healed and connected and my depression of over a decade was much improved to the extent that I can say now that I feel mentally healthy and very much at peace internally. It took time for me to reflect on the depth of my visions and understand my feelings about what I saw because truly, it was awesome and the scale of things I saw was beyond what my human mind could easily comprehend. The closest I can describe it is looking at hieroglyphics or cave drawings and trying to decipher what is being conveyed and pricing it all together to allow my conscious mind to connect with these thoughts in a coherent manner. This is why I believe in a pantheistic approach deep within me. I also believe there is no right approach to god, regardless of what the ‘truth’ might be - god to me now is our own personal relationship to the world around us and how it shapes how we conduct ourselves as we move through it and there are as many ways for that to exist as there are people. We only feel excited when we come across someone else that feels similarly because we feel validated, even though we will never truly know and can sometimes be a scary thought so we tend to hold on to it somewhat tightly.

I woke one morning with an epiphany that everything from the smallest to the largest, from the smallest insect to largest body in the cosmos are all part of the same,I even remember the dream as I zoomed out from this world and into space as we know it. The one word that woke me that day was “ONE” It was the strangest moment in my life. That day as I looked through the pages of a news paper on my work break the word ‘ONE’ was spread across the pages. I immediately was taken back to my morning epiphany. The article went on to talk about Chinese Taoism, which I read and thoroughly enjoyed as it made sense of what I was feeling. However many years later after forgetting all about that day I find myself here. I still don’t know what it all means but I feel I’m getting somewhere.

I had a crisis of personal development in 2020 when my girlfriend kicked me out and I realized I had to work on a lot of stuff. Anxiety was a big thing that I was trying to manage so I started studying stoicism and Taoism. Both helped but I really preferred Taoism because it was a much more carefree and laid-back approach to being present. And it also kind of became My chosen choice of spirituality. Trying to meditate or reflect on it or Read about it was always comforting. But I didn't hold much belief in it particularly being true outside of the fact that everything is energy. I guess part of me still looked at that without assigning any kind of meaning to it and instead just being like "Hey technically the taoists were right" I fell off kind of trying to meditate or study with it much for a while. But then I started getting into using psychedelics to help with mental health. 6 months into that journey and all of a sudden one night I saw God. And God was indeed everything. And I saw everything. The universe, creation, expansion, consciousness. I came out of that trip and all of a sudden everything made sense. I don't just have a sense of what they meant the Tao to be. I now understand it completely. The comparison in this video to atheism is valid with the exception of atheists missing just one thing about that worldview. That existence is divine. It is not just existence as it is, it is being part of something greater than us. A higher power as people like to say. And that doesn't have to be an elderly looking man with a long white beard dressed in some robes. That can be existence. The Bible calls God spaceless and timeless. As is existence. Since that experience not only do I just have this understanding of this concept, but it has been interesting to study religion in general. As at the very least my mind is much more open to the concept of God.

I experienced a full blown ego-death epiphany one night in my early 20s while (to put it mildly) contemplating the cosmos and searching for God. I didn't expect the moment to happen. I didn't ask for it to happen. In my solitude I often gaze at the stars, and I often get lost. But something strange happened that night. I began looking inward and outward simultaneously with more intensity than I have before or since; and for a fleeting moment in my contemplations I was suddenly found. For a mere 30 seconds I became wrapped in a warm blanket of infinite compassion, understanding, and power. In a brief and beautiful moment I fully realized how small I am, how large everything is, and how special and rare life is. An understanding of epic proportion swelled over me so profoundly that I openly wept when it flooded my mind. I felt an acute connection to everything all at once. The emotion of such a feeling was too much to contain. I wept, I laughed. I begged forgiveness That fleeting instance was burned into my brain, and then it was gone as soon as it came on. It took me days to recover, and years to digest. As wonderful as that moment was, I am still frightened of it to this day. However, the notions I came away with post-experience ended up being point-for-point systematically covering nearly everything mentioned in this video. I didn't realize the notions I formed over a decade ago even had a name until tonight. Pantheism! Even more so, I didn't realize how long these notions have been around. I am truly in awe that others have also come to this conclusion without ever having heard it before. What a grand and logical theism. Beautiful in its simplicity, incomprehensibly large in its implications.

This is very close to understand the Law of One. Throughout the age's we have been giving truth, but it has been kept under a veil. In an Infinite Creator the Creator can be both outside and what Creation is. Because that is also what it means to be Infinite. We might be only aware of a fraction of what truly exists.

Bernardo Kastrup has some interesting ideas on why we feel like individual people having our own experiences. It's because, in a way, we are, while still being part of a universal consciousness. This is possible because our role within the universal consciousness is something like being an isolated personality in a brain with multiple-personality disorder. We experience reality as an individual "alter," which is different from anyone else's experience of reality, and yet we're all part of the same brain, or consciousness.

I absolutely LOVE the way these videos are made. So simple and so respectful. Both sides make the strongest arguments for their POV but I love that the Truth, the argument made on the left, allows the opposition to speak his arguments first before disassembling it logically. I love that the person who knows they are right is so respectful and patient. If only these conversations would happen like this in real life

They could happen in real life, and often, they do. The problem is that most of what is shown to the masses is the complete opposite to encourage more divisiveness. I think tribalism is genuinely the cause because it is easier to control smaller groups. Progress is not had by dividing people but by bringing them together to have logical debates.

I’m a pantheist, I view the universe as the creation. I view the singularity as the creator. I also feel that without intelligent life and consciousness the Universe would not be able to contemplate itself or have reason for existence. I don’t think humans or any intelligent life are special in any other way other than to have the ability to observe and comprehend. In essence intelligent life is just a synapse of a Universe that is connected to everything everywhere. I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to observe and contemplate. At the end I may even comprehend. This is my belief and it doesn’t require anyone to share it, though it brings me a great comfort. I am nature, I am the universe as I am of the fabric of Universe. I am fundamental particles arranged in a state that gives the Universe consciousness. My unique consciousness is so mathematically unlikely that it verges on the precipice of oblivion. Maybe in the end when the last black hole dies and lights up the universe nothing will matter, not even matter. Or maybe when the Universe collapses and time itself ends the Universe will be reborn and time will continue. Right now those questions would be akin to asking a leaf what the sun is made of. I will contemplate myself until I return to the stars.

I was an Atheist a few years ago. Science was my answer to anything and everything. I was going trough a tough time and a few friends of mine got me to try LSD. I dont know why i just accepted (i didnt do drugs back then). Itmade me think more about me and my situation, where i am in life and where i want to go. After a few trips i had somethin akin to an ego death. I could define the border between myself, my body, the trees and the ground. After the effects wore off i started to understand what i had felt in that moment. Unity. I talked to atheists and religous people alike and found that theres nothing really seperating them in the fundamental parts of their world views. If you relize that science is just theories built on more theories built on subjective observation, there is nothing prohibiting god. All the core physical attributes we attribute to god are present in the universe itself. I for my part just added god into the equation in a way that doesnt change anything.

One thing most people don't really realize is that there are different types of pantheists. The naturalist/scientific Pantheists are Atheists in all but name. Basically, it's just Atheism but with Religious and Spiritual language thrown in. The other kind is the New Age Pantheist which sees God as a type of mystical energy that permeates throughout the entire universe and that we are all part of this energy called God. These two types of Pantheists have radically different worldviews and such. Their only overlap is they see everything as connected. The New Age Pantheists generally believe in reincarnation and karma and psychic abilities and such. The naturalistic pantheists don't believe in any of that. It's just kind of interesting how they are almost opposites yet both use the same term.

My version of panpsychism goes like this: humans are conscious as we know a priori, and this consciousness, and the only thing that seems special about the human brain is that is a complex and (relatively) closed system. All complex systems then, could be conscious in varying degrees based on their complexity. The consciousness of the human brain is entirely emergent, build with different rules and different mechanics

Taoism is yet another religion trying to explain things they don't understand. Reading the Tao on its own, without commentary's, inevitably led me to this beautiful concept, which I now discover is called Pantheism.

Love this tbh, i believe I never knew the term to what I believe - and also, we definitely share consciousness. In fact, dogma is what Steve Jobs spoke about --- how our thoughts are effected by those around us. Also, telepathy is something I sometimes think of a lot, and I believe just like Albert Einstein thought "A person starts living when he can live outside himself" -- sometimes, i feel that some of my thoughts are originating from someone else besides myself and not just from myself. On another hand, religion says that Judas was destined to fail Jesus. It was destined, so where is there true will there, or maybe it is the intention theory that tricked him into doing so. We are humans, we will never really know. I stopped asking these questions at 16 and got back to them recently. I think we are part of consciousness, and when you are aligned with it and if you work on a high frequency and you are dealing with people with awareness, you manifest exactly what you want - the universe listens to you - God listens to you.

Growing up as a Christian, I've started naturally gravitating towards pantheism. If you do some searching, you will see there is a spooky correlation between the human brain and the cosmic web. When I found this out, I started taking into consideration on the verse "let us make man in our image". Some interpret that as just sharing the same emotions as God. However, the brain is mostly responsible for giving us those emotions that God allegedly experiences. Just food for thought.

Acts 17:24-31 God Is There and Reachable 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Not just LSD for me it was various experiences in university that I feel like I could only attribute to God, I've been visiting various churches and temples, to get closer to that notion. I've seen the results, God is real, God is everywhere, God is you.

Do not trust your perceptions. Perceptions are flawed. - Quantum physics 🌟✨ What we see is not the reality! The appearance is mistaken. Thus, there are two truths of the same reality we live in: the conventional truth (that we see and experience) & the ultimate truth (that we are seeking in actuality as the end goal). Keep exploring and studying 🥲🌱✌🏻

I lean towards Panentheism over Pantheism... the concept that what we could label as God has minfested it's self into the universe and all forms of consciousness with in it but that God is something that transcends all of this....

I think I've been a pantheist for a while now. I believe in it because the idea of varying levels of consciousness, and consciousness on a cellular level makes sense. The argument against collective consciousness (what I interpreted from the video) saying that if it was so, wouldn't we be more interconnected? I think we already are deeply interconnected. Everything we experience, others experience and the nature of our language and the connections we are able to develop with others seems to show our collectivity. Also, I think that gives reason to why our language is different from animal communication.

The Apostle Paul - Mentions the Way of Salvation Paul did not detest the Law of Moses. Paul actually believed in The Law, but did not understand that God was going to bring in the grace. It had to first be a sacrifice - and that sacrifice was Jesus Christ. Paul did not detest The Law but quoted from Moses and explained what Moses could not explain back then, because it wasn't time yet. Moses means "drawn out" - and God used Moses to 'draw out' Israel from Egypt. The Hebrews spent scores of years in Egypt, and it was time to move on. The word 'Church' means "Called Out" - by Christ, the Church was called out of the world to make a people for God. In the epistles written by Paul, especially Romans and Galatians he explained the purpose of the church. In The Law in Deuteronomy 32 - God had Moses teach Joshua and the Children of Israel a song. This song was going to attest what the Children of Israel was going to do, including turning their back on God. But... in the end, God would bring Israel back. In that chapter, the Church was foretold due to Israel's idolatry which caused jealousy from God. For that reason God used a people that were not a people to cause Israel to jealousy. The Apostle Paul explains this in Romans 9, 10, and 11. Acts 13:38,39 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Love this. An additional argument for this can be made around the physical Peculiarities of having one's corpus colossum severed, it gives rise to the question of perception of reality VS reality. How can any person know the consciousness of another? They can't, when the corpus coliseum is severed this becomes very evident. To me, pantheism is pure belief and all other religions are just a selling of belief for followers. And in a weird twist pantheism doesn't care if you believe it just like God.

I adopted this belief but I didn't know that was the name. Born into a Christian family. But always believed that science reviews the power of God. For example the big bang was the word of God saying let there be. Got exposed to a book called spiritual law which focuses on astral planes and auto body experiences. This book explain to me reincarnation and how it makes sense within Christianity and gave scientific proof of people who have memories of their past life. Came across something in Buddhism that states there is no contradiction if everything is part of the one that is God. Meaning if everything is from God then what we think is the difference is not different, and made me see how each religion could possess a certain truth . And my point of view every religion is true. The problem is people take religion to personal and a lot of information is missing on most religions and how religion has been used to manipulate people and power . I came across the neurology it showed me how that numbers don't lie everything in the universe exist in a set of number. Numbers at universal language two things in English are two things in Chinese now also two things in Shona. And two stars in a specific solar system I still too. I came across the meaning of triple six in the numerology it means almost the same as in Christianity something bad. Introducing the universe to me if everything came from the. Then we are created from the from the universe what makes up stars is what we're made of there's no contradiction. If God created life or spoke life into everything then a part of God is that everything. Though of these things that things that are simply matter physical and things that are physical but alive which contain consciousness to their different levels then there's the unseen you could say the spiritual world which is just the conscience . when we die we become spirit which is the conscience which is the universe which is God. So I believe I am a god everyone else is god and we're all a part of God . that's why the conscience is believed to be the spirit.

I see the difference between atheism and Pantheism as your belief in the power the “universe” can have on your life. A great example of this is the law of attraction. With the law of attraction it is believe that putting out positive and good intentions into the universe and focusing on that attracts those things into your life. The energy we put out reacts to the energy of the universe to help us achieve our goals. This is what Pantheism is! An atheist believes in nothing. They don’t believe in any power a god or the universe can have on our lives, things just happen for no rhyme or reason. Other then our physical actions in the real world there is no way to send out intentions into the universe to help benefit yourself. At least this is what I personally believe.
