impactful Death Penalty might be the single most important thing to making Pantheon feel like a real world - to be respected, to be feared, to overcome, to marvel at. Every success, every boss defeated, epic item looted, will be much much sweeter and satisfying if there is a death penalty. Players will never respect a gameworld or feel attached to their characters without it.

Death penalty reinforces the need to group up and add a cleric to your group for resurrect to also get a portion of xp back. Every class has a weakness and strength. Like necro and summoner can summon your body at 12 i beleive.

At least in Pantheon the DP doesn't make you drop your armor/weapons - you can stay in the fight and get back to your corpse or get a rez. And I agree 100% on your take on adventuring and feeling like the world is real and matters. This makes me stay on my toes.
